Description
La Rochelle House is presented as an elegant beachside national monument built in 1902 as a holiday retreat. It offers wide views of False Bay from the upper terrace and sits just a short walk from the vibrant cafés and restaurants of Kalk Bay. The house is reserved exclusively for guests during their stay and sleeps 11 people comfortably, with a cot and baby bath available for younger visitors.
Upstairs, the 3 bedrooms create a warm and inviting space. The main bedroom is a king en-suite with both a bath and a shower, along with a beautiful sea view. Another king bedroom at the front features wooden shutters and the same striking outlook over the ocean. The third spacious king bedroom includes a desk positioned to enjoy views across the bay. A bathroom with both a shower and a bath, as well as a separate toilet, is set next to the lounge. Downstairs offers 2 additional bedrooms. A double en-suite room at the front includes a generous bathroom with a shower that also opens onto the main corridor, along with a separate toilet. The fifth bedroom features 3 single beds and a seating area, allowing the room to function as a second lounge or games room. It can also be arranged as a king, twin, or triple room.
A cosy study sits close by, with a chandelier and a desk facing the window so guests can work or relax beside the Edwardian fireplace.
The newly renovated kitchen is positioned at the back of the house and is equipped with a fridge-freezer, gas hob, oven, microwave, cutlery, crockery, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. It also features a wood fireplace for cooler days. The open-plan dining area includes a ten-seater table and leads onto the back patio, which has another 10-seater table, added seating, and a long bench beneath a bougainvillaea-covered pergola. This space is ideal for relaxed meals and gatherings.
Wheelchair-accessible double doors open from the patio to the side street, offering easy access when heading to and from the beach. An outdoor shower is available for a quick rinse after swimming or surfing.
La Rochelle Heritage Beach House offers Wi-Fi, a non-smoking interior, TV, a sitting area, desk, fireplaces, sea and mountain views, a washing machine, tumble dryer, outdoor furniture, balcony, patio, and braai facilities.
