"We could not find any restaurants in Doonside, but Warner beach which is very close has a nice rustic restaurant which has pensioner specials. The food was delicious and well priced. There is a Fruit and Veg shop across the railway line which sells almost anything, and there is a lovely shopping centre a short distance away. If you are looking for bright lights and entertainment you would have to travel, but if you need to rest and just enjoy the sea and the beach it is ideal."
"Klein Spar en Pick n Pay. Moet na Shelly Beach ry as groter verskeidenheid benodig. Strand volgens permanente inwoners nie altyd veilig nie. Self geen probleme gehad of onveilig gevoel nie. Sal na Hibberdene terug kom."

"We did a lot of driving through to Ramsgate and Marina Beach, as there are fewer dining options in the immediate area of Leisure Bay. In hindsight, it probably would have been better to just stay in Ramsgate, as the daily driving up and down got a bit tiresome."
