Staff were very unfriendly, and not helpful at all, the room was not what we expected, bathroom was untidy , air-con was not working. I will not recommend this hotel!

Short but okay.

Firstly there is no food services for late check in. The reception at hotel was also not up to date with payment methods. I had to proof that I paid in full with LekkeSlaap and still the lady said they doubt the payment was made. She was not friendly at all. The room was clean and the beds is a dream to sleep on.

It's a nice place to be.

We really enjoyed the stay at Albany hotel. From the first day until the last day it was excellent, the food was nice, the rooms were very clean, all the people who worked there starting from the security at the door, the helpdesk (receptionists), the cleaners and the staff who served us with food were very nice to us.

The hotel location is good, because of easy access to public transportation.

The stay was pleasant, the room was clean. The only thing I did not enjoy was the breakfast buffet. The food quality was not nice and not on a standard of the usual buffet that includes almost everything.

Oor die algemeen baie goed.

Die hotel is oor die algemeen goed en skoon met vriendelike personeel. Alhoewel ons bespreek het vir 3 volwassenes, was daar net 1 koppie en 2 handdoeke en selfs toe ons vra vir meer handdoeke en koppies het ons dit nie gekry nie. Andersins was dit goeie verblyf. Dankie.

Hotel is overall good, clean and friendly staff. Although we booked for three adult persons, there were only one cup and two towels and even when we requested for more towels and cups we still did not receive them. Otherwise we had a good stay. Thanks.

Die verblyf was skrikwekkend. Die ligging van die hotel is nog meer skrikwekkend. As die personeel van die hotel vir jou sê dat dit 'somtyds' veilig is dan is daar iewers 'n groot probleem. Slegs ontvangs lyk mooi en indrukwekkend, maar moenie waag om op te gaan na die kamers of om buite die hotel rond te loop nie. Ek sou voorstel dat julle vir jul eie onthalwe eerder hierdie hotel van jul aanbevole lys verwyder.

The Albany hotel is a very convenient place to stay in while in Durban. My friends and I had a great time. They just need to improve on their customer service.

The hotel has friendly receptionists but is a little far from the beach.

When I arrived at the hotel I found that I had made the right decision. It was clean and the receptionist is friendly as are the employees. I won't mind booking again at the hotel. I even recommended it to my colleagues.

The Albany Hotel Staff - from the security at the door down to the cleaners - sure know how to handle people. We were treated like queens throughout our stay. Thank you so much TravelGround, with you guys it is indeed easier. My family and I and our friends we will definitely come back.

Needs some revamp, from customer service to the building itself.

I booked a 4 sleeper room for 2 adults and 2 children. Room 31 was just 2 double beds and had no privacy. I requested that I be changed to a room where there is privacy and was told there is none. All rooms are the same. I then requested 2 standard rooms, I was told that since I booked through TravelGround they cannot change. I was forced to book another standard room, in the name of privacy. I was told on arrival that there is no parking, upon asking the security at the same parking place, I was told that there are plenty empty and available parking bays, the only thing I need to do is to go to the hotel pay and bring the ticket with. I chose to park somewhere else. My overall impression is that the place is terrible.

Please guys get your room phones in working order. I'd also suggest you get bar fridges in the rooms. The doors should also have stoppers or hooks to put them on. Bathing faculties could be cleaner (remove ingrained stains). Other then that, our group had good time.

Met die aankoms was die personeel baie vriendelik en baie gaaf. Die hotel was baie skoon ...

... en baie netjies. Ons was baie beïndruk met die plek, want dit is nie die eerste keer wat ons daar gebly het. Ons sal vir enige persoon die blyplek aanbeveel. Ons het een aand te laat by die hotel aangekom, toe is die parkade reeds gesluit. Ons het te lekker by die familie in Pinetown gekuier en nie die tyd dop gehou nie. Ons moes toe ons motor voor die hotel parkeer en dit het niks oorgekom nie. Die personeel het baie mooi na hom gekyk. Weereens baie dankie!

We were a group of 8 people which included 2 children and two seniors aged 79 and 80 and we experienced value for money generally. We found the lifts to be extremely slow and this became quite uncomfortable as we Capetonians) are not accustomed to such high levels of humidity. The breakfasts were somewhat disappointing because on all three mornings that we stayed here, we found that the kitchen had run out of certain breakfast dishes before the end of the breakfast time slot. Secondly the choice of certain breakfast dishes wasn't very appetizing. ...

The rooms were big and spacious and cleaned regularly and the reception and security staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall a lovely experience considering the age gaps of our group (9yrs - 80yrs) will definitely go back and will recommend to others. Albany is nicely located and you can hop on to a "People Mover" - a very comfy user friendly bus suitable for wheelchairs, prams, etc which goes right down onto the Beachfront. The People Mover bus stop is almost inside Albany's foyer (so close) so this was also fantastic for the senior members of our group.

Excellent service

The hotel is excellent. The only thing I suggest is that rooms be provided with small refrigerators as the area is too hot and sometimes cold water is needed. The mill was excellent. The cars were safe and security was provided. The staff is so kind and willing to listen and give direction and explanation were needed. I give a thumbs up to this hotel.

It was so nice staying at Albany, we have enjoyed ourselves. Clean rooms, quiet environment without ups and downs. The Hotel is located right in town next to many things such as shops, beaches, Durban ICC, Moses Mabida, Durban Museum, etc. I can recommend Albany for everyone willing to visit Durban. Our two days stay at Albany was the most joyful moment for our group from Kimberley. The Hotel is clean, breakfast is of high standard, car parking is secured, employees are friendly and everything was good. Maintenance..

We arrived on Friday. On Saturday the toilets weren't flushing and hot water was not available so it was inconvenient. Then we had to reactivate the key since it was deactivated. Other wise the staff was willing to help us. And a very big up to Edgar for his courtesy - he is very friendly and helpful. Otherwise the hotel is beautiful.

Albany staff can do with a bit of training on communication skills as well as how to welcome a client into the hotel, I spoke to two of the reception ladies and not once did I get a smile from them. Otherwise, a good stay.

Albany very Central in the heart of the cbd.

When the airport shuttle dropped all the other passagers first and we last I was gravely concerned that we going to be in a slum area - but unbeknown to me, the road names have changed. As such, I had no need to worry, as it was not the old Smith Street we going to. The welcome at the reception and the security aspect was impressing. The room was immaculate and neat, but rather small. There was really nothing to do in the hotel especially at night when u are forced to stay indoors. But all in all a comfortable, safe stay was enjoyed.

The hotel was very comfortable and amazing. The only thing that I didn't like was the opening cards to the room were not working on the second day. If the deactivation of cards for guest is security standard procedure I prefer to be told about it - because I find it very uncomfortable to go the room at 9th floor and when you get there the card is not working.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the rooms were comfortable, breakfast was excellent, the service staff were always helpful and friendly. The only disappointing things were: the fact that you need to pay extra for parking. Linen was not changed on a daily basis. Not all the towels were soft. Fresh glasses and cups were not provided every morning, so they were simply washed in the basin where we brush out teeth. Otherwise, a good stay.

Safe environment

I was happy with my stay but a bit disappointed with the breakfast, they should update the website as what we received was not a full English breakfast. My friends and I also got chased away for wearing pajamas but there were other tenants wearing pajamas already eating. The rules should apply to everyone to avoid confusion. However, all in all I was happy.

We really did receive more than we expected. it was very affordable, and despite the fact that we had to walk down the road to the parking area - it was worthwhile staying there. I would use and recommend it to others on business trips as well. Invoicing issue is being dealt with.

I had a no complaints holiday at the Albany hotel - good service, nice place to stay at.

Staff is friendly, hotel is clean, near to the beach. However the area does not look too safe, although we were not mugged or harmed in any way. Overall the hotel is a nice place to stay at. The view of the city is fabulous at night from the hotel windows. I will surely go there again.

I'll definitely stay here whenever I visit Durban. Albany Hotel is awesome.

My wife and my Little daughter were against us moving to another hotel and if the other hotel wasn't already booked, we could have extended our stay. Ladies at the reception were fantastic.:) The problems: Parking, we were told, cost R10 an hr and checking-in time is honestly very late 14H00. How about at least 12H00 in future?

The service there was great, rooms are very neat and in good condition. The place at which the hotel is situated is also perfect! The lifts might need some improvements (hence I scored 4 on safety), but everything else is great! Breakfast was also great :). I'm definitely coming back again next time I'm in Durban. Great value for money indeed.

Superb!!!

Excellent value for money and the food is reasonably priced and really good. The air conditioning could use some work though as it was too humid and we were constantly sticky. All-in-all a great place worth more than what it charges. I will be staying here again.

After spending a week on the MSC Opera we decided to stay over in Durban to see the sights. Before arriving at the hotel, a few people informed us that the area surrounding the hotel was not safe however once we established the bus route, we had no problem travelling in and around Durban - with a wheelchair person I might add. The hotel itself is an old building but kept up to standard (very clean), the restaurant serves amazing food and the breakfast included in the price of our stay was just great. Value for money for a night's stay.

Old style hotel but clean accommodation in spacious rooms. Although the breakfast buffet was very good, the quality of room service food was not great. Area doesn't provide dining opportunities and one has to go to further afield.

I enjoyed my stay and I didn't expect the superb level of service

The hotel is very clean and the only thing I would change is the carpet in the rooms. Otherwise I was very impressed, even the food was great! I would rate the hotel 4-star.

Nice and comfortable place at a reasonable rate.

One of the receptionist was rude and there was no prior information regarding parking fees, wish it could be on the website. Otherwise, good value for money, in a good and safe location.

Recommend it to a friend who then booked out of his accommodation and moved to the Albany

Excellent value for money, clean, well maintained hotel. The breakfast was good at the offered price. The security staff at the hotel and in the area were very helpful especially with regard to finding public transport and they also accompanied me around when I went walking at night. Impressed with the general cleanliness of the area. Thank you for good service - The Albany and Durban!
