Description
Nestled in the leafy suburb of Linden, Johannesburg, 5th Avenue Gooseberry Guest House is a 4-star retreat offering charm, comfort, and artistic flair. Each of the eleven en-suite rooms is individually styled with vintage touches, antiques, and original artwork by owner Susan Berry. Known for its warm atmosphere, the guest house has been featured in magazines, films, and as the former home of Idols SA.
Established in 1997, this well-loved guest house provides peaceful garden surroundings, a swimming pool, free Wi-Fi, optional breakfast, and inverter backup during load-shedding. It is ideal for couples, families, groups, tours, and retreats.
The property offers secure parking for over twelve vehicles and is easily accessible for minibuses and tour buses. It’s just minutes from major highways, close to Rosebank and Sandton, and within walking distance of Linden’s cafés, bakeries, and local shops.
Nearby facilities include medical centres, top schools, and churches, while major Joburg attractions like the Apartheid Museum, Constitution Hill, Emmarentia Dam, and Vilakazi Street are within easy reach. Guests describe Gooseberry as a creative home away from home, a peaceful city escape filled with personality, comfort, and care.
