Replenishing, well equipped, perfect for a solo/group retreat. Wonderful family! I booked Aba Té for 4 nights to have a solo trip to recharge and write. I ended up staying 10 days and would have stayed longer! Aba Té is a very special place because of the care and intention the family put into it. I was made to feel very welcome and at home, and left feeling replenished, content and nourished by a wonderful stay. My stay was a nice balance of privacy and solitude while being received warmly by the family every day - they are each very special people and I admire the materialising of their vision, spirit, skill and talents on this land. The house is in its own area with a garden and just next to Aba Té's medicine garden and dojo/exercise area. It's an ideal environment for writers and artists, as the family is creative. You can feel how they are gatherers of community with deep values. Aba Té is also a lovely place for a family/group stay. I would definitely bring my family. It's a spacious space - two bedrooms with comfortable double beds, a living room to chill or work at the desk, a bathroom with bath and shower, and a kitchen. For food, I brought my own food for my stay and cooked - the kitchen is fully equipped and has a 1/2 fridge/freezer. There is a catered option too that you can arrange prior. When I needed extra supplies or water, I could easily ask as I didn't have a car to run my own errands. It being winter, I was given a heater, water bottle and extra blankets which was more than needed to keep warm. There is WiFi which I used for work calls, and I recommend having data just in case there is a lull. It's a peaceful place - we practiced tai chi, I learnt about the herbs in the medicine garden, shared meals, and lent a hand in the garden where produce is grown. I didn't leave the farm for the duration of my stay, and you would need a car to do excursions - I didn't miss not having a car as I was content in place and went on quiet walks/runs in the area. It was easy to get there and back by Uber from Johannesburg - I scheduled the trip in advance the day before on the app. I'm very grateful for the care and nourishment I received from the family, and hope to return. I wholeheartedly recommend booking a stay here!
