Pure bliss. Afsaal cottage is what memories are made of. Picture a sunset over the west coast while a fire is going on the patio. Surrounded by fynbos and a padstal within walking distance which has a delicious menu and homemade cheese to die for. Pet friendly, which was what Thor needed. Perfection, rest for the soul. The most amazing break away. The cottage truly offers everything the soul needs and more — from the breathtaking sunsets on the stoep to the chorus of birdlife and the atmosphere of complete tranquility. It was beyond anything we could have imagined. Your hospitality was exceptional, and our furry “paw children” adored every moment. They ran free and became little children of the wild, adding even more joy to our stay. This was a weekend we will treasure forever. Thank you for opening your little piece of heaven to us — we will, without a doubt, be back soon.

Very peaceful, beautiful views. Cottage was way better than expected, quite expansive, beautiful westward views from the bedroom and patio across the veld/plains to the sea in the distance, affording stunning sunset! There's even 2 bathrooms (don't think included in the description) and it's nice and private, feels like you have the land to yourself. A very welcome overnight stop on our self-organised coastal hike, and Alta even drove down the grondpad and picked us up on the road from the beach, saving us an extra 2km walk. Rusks were great, as were the cheeses and other food we'd ordered from the padstal. The only thing we couldn't initially figure out was how to unlock the bedroom doors to the patio because none of the 5 keys worked, but that got sorted with a phone call! Definitely worth a revisit, but for a longer stay.

Quiet and safe stay in a beautiful setting near the sea. Had a wonderful stay and rested in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings. The unit is very homely and comfortable. We had a great time hanging out on the porch and braaiing.

Highly recommended, away from city and town, peaceful, away from neighbours. Our second time around, highly recommended. My daughter and assistant went along. Critically important to us is that our dogs can be with us. The area is fenced in, and the beach is about 3 km away. Miles of white sand where they can run and play. Outside the hustle and bustle of town, yet 15 minutes away. Padstal is next door for all those nice homemade snacks, etc.

Lovely, comfortable, relaxing. Great, comfortable and clean stay. The dogs enjoyed the stay too. Value for money and the treats were a lovely surprise.

Heavenly restorative breakaway. Beautifully located cottage. While the padstal is next door, the cottage is very private. The views from the bedroom and stoep were magical, and it was an excellent location for me as I had bookings in Paternoster and Saldanha, and both were a short distance away. I was also delighted to find the beach (which Alma later told me had previously been gated and locked up as people were camping in the nature reserve) was open, but word had not yet spread, so my dogs and I had the beach to ourselves for most of our stay. We had one little snafu in that Alma wasn't around when we arrived, and the ladies at the padstal assisted with keys, but I couldn't get the doors in the living room open and didn't want to force the key and risk breaking it. Alma did try to come say hi later, but the dogs and I had all fallen asleep in the gentle breeze of the afternoon after a beach walk, and so she didn't want to wake us. The dogs enjoyed adventuring around the cottage - I suspect a curious and adventurous dog could make an escape as the part towards the padstal has some shrubbery as the fencing, and the gate to the padstal is open - mine did not figure out this escape route, and there is a small secure fenced area at the back of the house that I restricted them to when I wasn't around to keep an eye on them. Please beware there are veld critters around (we had a bug adventure with a surprisingly fast tortoise one afternoon).
