Description
Aloe Lodge is tucked between two rocky hills on Grootfontein Private Reserve, offering a quiet, private escape for 2–4 guests.
Designed for rest and reconnection, the lodge features two en-suite bedrooms, an open living space, and uninterrupted mountain views. Spend slow afternoons cooling off in the private splash pool, or stargaze from the cargo net as the bush settles for the night.
OFF THE GRID
Aloe Lodge runs on solar power and embraces a simpler way of staying. There is no air conditioning or microwave, and we kindly ask guests not to use high-power appliances such as hairdryers, electric blankets, or hair straighteners.
If modern, high-energy amenities are essential for your stay, this may not be the right fit.
If you’re seeking quiet, nature, and a slower pace, Aloe Lodge offers exactly that.
FULLY SELF CATERED
We are fully self catered - there is no restaurant on the farm. We encourage guests to pack all food and drink you require for your stay so that you can unwind and soak up the bush. The closest restaurants and shops are in Thabazimbi, about 40 minutes from Grootfontein farm.
THINGS TO DO
Make sure to pack a good book, some lekker food and enjoy the untouched bushveld from the splash pool or cargo net.
HIKING
The 7.5 km KUDU ROUTE hugs the foot of the mountain and gives you a good workout and appreciation for our slice of the famous Bushveld.
For the more energetic you can hike our mountainous 6-11 km BLACK EAGLE ROUTE and enjoy the panoramic views towards Botswana and the Waterberg. Expect sightings of kudu, mountain rheebuck, zebra, klipspringer and resident black eagles.
