Tranquil. Private, self-contained, stunning views.
The best self-catering accommodation ever! We prefer this place to any hotel. The owner designed and built this beautiful and very private self-contained "glamping" unit with its own private kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor shower. The most tranquil off-grid experience we've ever had. All tech, including the solar installation, battery, and fridge, were silent. The bed is very comfortable and contained within a secure zip tent, so no mosquitoes, etc. The 2-metre radius hot tub/swimming pool is so private; we watched the stunning sunsets over the mountain range and had to drag ourselves out to sleep after stargazing all night. The fruit orchards are lovely to walk around. The owner was very responsive to any issues, and the place was very clean. We tried to extend for a second time; it's that great!
Beautiful, quiet and peaceful in a beautiful spot, but not windy.
Although I would recommend Asbos (because it is beautiful, clean and has everything you need), I would mention to people that it can be a problem when the weather turns as most of it is open. We had incredible wind (not the fault of the site), but then the only warm safe place is inside the tent which only has the bed in it. The bathroom and shower are especially freezing cold when the wind is blowing and there is no way to close anything in there. You know this ahead of time, and so again not the fault of the site, but we ended up driving home the 2nd night because the wind was so bad it was like a freezer. I would also suggest that a few additional arrows or signs be put up to make the route to the cottage clearer if your GPS is giving you trouble like we did. There was no hot water in the shower on the Saturday morning - we did not bring this to the owners' attention, however, because we were already on our way and in a hurry to start our day. I believe that if the weather had not turned against us, we would have had a wonderful stay, but because it unexpectedly became very cold and windy, and there was no other shelter from the wind than the tent, it was not very pleasant. However, I emphasize again that it is very beautiful and the owners' artistic hand can be seen and in other circumstances we are sure it would be very good.
Pragtig, stil en rustig in 'n pragtige plekkie, maar nie gear vir wind.
Alhoewel ek sê ek sal Asbos aanbeveel (want dit is pragtig, skoon en met alles wat jy benodig), sal ek wel aan mense noem dat dit 'n probleem raak as die weer draai aangesien meeste van dit oop is. Ons het ongelooflike wind gehad (nie die perseel se skuld nie), maar dan is die enigste warm veilige plekkie binne in die tent wat net die bed in het. Die badkamer en stort is veral verskriklik koud as die wind waai en daar is nie enige manier om iets daar toe te maak nie. Mens weet dit voor die tyd, en dus weereens nie die perseel se skuld nie, maar ons het op die ou end die 2de nag huistoe gery want die wind was so erg dit was soos 'n vrieskas. Ek sou ook voorstel dat 'n paar addisionele pyltjies of bordjies opgesit word om die roete na die huisie duideliker te maak as jou GPS jou dalk moeilikheid gee soos in ons geval. Daar was geen warm water in die stort op die Saterdagoggend - ons het dit egter nie onder die eienaars se aandag gebring nie, want ons was klaar aan die gang en haastig om ons dag te begin. Ek glo as die weer nie teen ons gedraai het nie, sou ons heerlik gebly het, maar omdat dit onverwags baie koud en winderig geraak het, en daar geen ander beskutting weg van die wind as die tent was nie, was dit nie so heel aangenaam nie. Ek beklemtoon egter weer dat dit bitter mooi is en die eienaars se kunstige hand gesien kan word en in ander omstandighede is ons seker dit sou baie goed wees.
