Description

At De Oude Herberg Country Lodge, Kenhardt is a spacious Cape Dutch-style house located on the outskirts of Kenhardt. The house offers views of the garden, the town, and the surrounding area. It was originally built in the early 1940s as a school hostel.

Accommodation is offered in 18 rooms, including en-suite double rooms with private entrances, en-suite family rooms, en-suite rooms with 2 single beds and private entrances, and economy rooms. The rooms feature central cooling, a TV, and a desk.

Guests have access to braai facilities, a laundry service, a recreation room (with a pool table, dartboard, and flat-screen TV), a self-catering kitchen, and a dining room. On-site parking is provided and is very secure with electric fencing. The gate closes at 21:00, and security patrols the property throughout the night. Ablution facilities are available for campers and caravans, and there is also a helipad. Guests can enjoy the spacious gardens and veranda, both ideal for birdwatching.

De Oude Herberg Country Lodge,e Kenhar,dt is situated on 1.5 hectares, away from any traffic noise. The small town of Kenhardt is 120 km from Upington. Nearby attractions include the Quiver Tree Forest, approximately 8 km south of Kenhardt on the main road to Cape Town. Some of these trees feature specially formed and woven bird nests. The Quiver Tree Forest can only be visited by appointment and is accessible by 4x4 vehicles. Other attractions in the area include the Giant Camel Thorn Tree, estimated to be between 500 and 600 years old, and Verneukpan, where Sir Malcolm Campbell attempted to break the land speed record in Bluebird 1 in 1929.
