Clancy Forest Lodge is nestled in a hidden corner of a private nature conservancy, providing an off-the-grid self-catering experience just off the N4 in the Schoemanskloof valley - 50km from Mbombela. The expansive Clancy Private Nature Conservancy spans over 400 hectares of timber plantations and mountain wilderness , renowned for its abundant biodiversity that includes a variety of indigenous birds and animals.

Perched high on the side of the mountain, in indigenous forests, this wooden eco-lodge comprises 3 bedrooms with an open plan loft and accommodates between 6 to 11 guests. The first bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a bath and shower. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, while the third bedroom also contains a queen-size bed. Furthermore, the open-plan loft contains 5 single beds. The second bathroom is shared and has a bath and shower.

Clancy is an off the grid experience - we do NOT have Eskom power. The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove, oven, and gas-operated fridge. The living area boasts a comfy lounge suite and a fireplace where guests can unwind on chilly evenings. The open plan living area also has a dining table. The lodge comes with paraffin and solar lamps, while the gas geyser provides hot water. Additionally, staff fire up a wood-fired donkey water heater for piping hot bath and shower water. Evenings can be spent around the fire pit in the outdoor boma which comes with ample wood. Moreover, a generator operates for a few hours in the evening, ensuring the ability to recharge electronic devices.

The lodge also has a games room with snooker, darts and table tennis, together with numerous board and card games. The deck has a small plunge pool, filled directly with mountain water from the natural springs on the farm, to cool off on those hot summer days.

The lodge in dry weather is accessible by normal cars - but we recommend those with a high clearance. During extremely wet weather, high clearance or 4X4 vehicles recommended.

Guests can embark on nature walks or explore the mountain bike trails that wind through indigenous forests, sprawling gum plantations, and vast open grazing land. Nature enthusiasts have ample opportunities to spot bird life and wildlife such as zebra, impala, kudu, baboons, monkeys, bushbuck, duiker, and bush pigs.
