The Old House at River Bend is a beautifully restored heritage property in the heart of historic Graaff-Reinet. Originally built in the late 1700s as one of the town’s earliest homes, the property has been thoughtfully renovated to preserve its original character while offering stylish and comfortable accommodation. Previously known as Cypress Cottages, this charming retreat combines history, comfort, and Karoo hospitality.
Accommodation is offered in 3 private options, each with its own entrance and secure off-street parking. Guests can choose between the Queen Cottage, the Twin Suite, and the adjoining flatlet affectionately known as “The Klipkamer”.
Each unit is furnished with comfortable beds and features an en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, and electric blankets for added comfort during cooler months. The Queen Cottage includes a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering, while the Twin Suite and Klipkamer offer convenient heat-and-eat facilities.
Guests can relax in the garden and enjoy the outdoor seating and braai facilities in a peaceful setting.
The property is ideally located for exploring the many attractions of Graaff-Reinet and the surrounding area, including the Camdeboo National Park, the Valley of Desolation, the Dutch Reformed Mother Church, the Anglo-Boer War Memorial, the Hester Rupert Art Museum, and the Jan Rupert Art Centre. Guests can also enjoy hiking, game viewing, visiting the Nqweba Dam, and discovering the rich history and culture of this unique Karoo town.
