Die Storiekamer is a rustic self-catering unit in a building that was formerly an artist’s studio and workshop, located in Kamieskroon in the heart of Namaqualand, Northern Cape. The unit is ideal for guests travelling long distances from Cape Town or Namibia, or for those seeking a peaceful getaway. Kamieskroon is in the middle of the spectacular Namaqualand flower region, with other flower-viewing areas 30 to 45 minutes’ drive away.

The open-plan unit accommodates 2 guests and is furnished with 2 single beds and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Extra bedding is available, and a heater is provided for added comfort. The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge-freezer, two-plate stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, crockery, and cutlery. Tea- and coffee-making facilities are provided, including filter coffee, tea, rooibos tea, milk, and sugar. A fan, water cooler, and hairdryer are also available. Free Wi-Fi is provided, but there is no TV.

The lounge area includes a small dining table, a couch, and a selection of books. Basic outdoor braai facilities are available, and parking is provided on the premises.

Nearby attractions include local shops within a five-minute walk and a nearby dirt road offering scenic views of Sneeukop and Kardou, two prominent peaks in the Kamiesberg. The area has minimal light pollution, making stargazing from the small stoep exceptional.
