Description
The Sunflower Flat is a semi-detached unit with a private, step-free entrance, set on a 2-hectare indigenous plot in Kampersrus AH, at the foothills of the Drakensberg. The natural forest environment attracts birds, insects, reptiles, monkeys, bushbuck, red duiker, and occasional nocturnal visitors such as porcupines, bushbabies, and genets. Nature check lists (mammals, birds, butterflies and more) are available for guests to record sightings during their stay in our beautiful Forest Garden.
The flat accommodates 3 guests. The bedroom has 2 single beds, and the en-suite bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet, and basin. A narrow single bed in the lounge is available for a third guest or child.
The kitchen is equipped with a gas stove and oven, fridge, kettle, cutlery, and crockery. The entire property is serviced by one off-grid solar power system and the Sunflower Flats has its own gas geyser. Guests have access to a balcony with views of the surrounding landscape.
The property is peaceful, with easy access to restaurants and shops in the nearby village of Kampersrus. Forest and mountain walks are within walking distance, and guests may book guided nature walks free of charge. The walks are led by Prof Alan Gardiner, a highly knowledgeable ecologist with a passion for nature and home-grown conservation.
The host offers Pilates, Mini CrossFit and Tai-Chi classes in the open-to-air studio on the property. Guests may join the scheduled early morning group classe free of charge, while private mid-morning classes may be arranged at an hourly rate.
Two friendly, free-roaming dogs live on the property but are discouraged from entering the guest accommodation.
WiFi is available and a range of books, puzzles and board games offer old-fashioned Indoor Entertainment.
