Peaceful, quiet and beautiful natural surroundings, which make you feel renewed. Excellent getaway in the bush. Beautiful nature. Absolutely fantastic accommodation.

Rustige, stil en pragtige natuur omgewing, wat jou vernuwe laat voel. Uitstekende wegbreek in die bos. Pragtige natuur. Verblyf absoluut fantasties.

Relax. This is a place to kick off your shoes and just live. This is definitely a place for nature lovers. It's off the grid which brought back good memories.

Ontspanne. Dit is 'n plek om jou skoene uit te skop en net te lewe. Dit is vir seker 'n plek vir natuurliefhebbers. Dit is off the grid wat goeie herinneringe meegebring het.

Gorgeous, unique property. Really beautiful, unique and off the beaten track. It was a bit of a hairy drive getting up to the Mokwapa Lodge at the top of the hill - but well worth it for the lovely property/view. Luckily the campsite next door wasn't booked as it is very close.

Was okay after everything that happened. The lodge itself is beautiful and situated in a lovely bushveld setting, making it a peaceful getaway. However, there were several issues that affected our overall experience. Firstly, I would not recommend driving a normal car to the lodge. The road is very difficult to access, and a bakkie or high-clearance vehicle is essential. We had to park our car and walk up to the lodge with our luggage. Another major concern was the baboon situation. Before we left for the rugby on Saturday morning, the lodge staff member closed everything up to prevent baboons from getting inside. However, when we returned, we received a WhatsApp message informing us that baboons had entered the lodge and helped themselves to our food. They took four loaves of bread, six hot dog rolls, eggs, five bags of chips, and all the leftover food from our breakfast. It is difficult to understand how this happened if all precautions had been taken and the entry points were known. Transport arrangements were also disappointing. Because of the difficult access road, we asked the lodge staff member to take us to the rugby. He drove extremely recklessly, which made us feel unsafe. We paid R600 for transport, including collection after the game. On the return trip, the vehicle's lights were not working properly, with only the hazard lights on. He then stopped and asked us to drop him off in Thabazimbi, leaving us with the bakkie to drive ourselves back to the lodge. As a result, we only arrived back at the lodge around 9:00 pm. While the lodge itself is attractive and located in a beautiful natural setting, the access challenges, baboon incident, and transport issues significantly impacted our stay.

Hi Charlene, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We’re pleased to hear you enjoyed the lodge itself and its bushveld setting. There are, however, a few points we’d like to clarify for future guests. Our pre-arrival information, sent to every guest via WhatsApp before check-in, clearly explains that while high-clearance vehicles are recommended, a pickup service from our main gate is available by prior arrangement. Unfortunately, at no stage before your arrival was a pickup requested or communicated to us. Throughout your stay, I remained in contact via WhatsApp to assist where needed, but unfortunately my messages went unanswered. The only reply I did receive was later deleted, which made it difficult for me to understand or address any concerns you may have had at the time. Regarding the monkey incident, this is an unfortunate reality of being in the African bush. For this reason, our welcome information specifically asks guests to pack all food items away securely whenever leaving the lodge, as monkeys are highly opportunistic. Despite this, when we became aware of what had happened, Memory immediately went out to assist in cleaning up and helping wherever he could, even though the incident was beyond our control. With regard to the transport, Memory has been with us for many years and is a valued, trusted member of our team who has safely transported countless guests to and from the lodge. On this occasion, he was simply trying to assist after your request, despite transport not having been arranged beforehand. We are naturally disappointed to hear that this was your experience, as it certainly does not reflect the level of care and service we consistently provide. Kind regards, Jessica

Dissapointing, Overpriced!!! We stayed at Kudu Lodge. We were very disappointed in our stay. We were told that the gate code would be sent to us before we arrived, and that someone would meet us at reception and show us where to go – still waiting! We actually never met anyone from the resort while we were there. The accommodation is not at all like the pictures on the website. We don’t mind “rustic”, but badly maintained, run-down and shabby is not acceptable. No bedside tables or lamps, no mosquito net, no chairs in the room, the swimming pool is in bad condition, terrible pillows, mouse droppings on the sheets, etc. Kudu Lodge is overpriced and run down!

Very peaceful and beautiful nature. Very peaceful and relaxing, we were lucky with a thunderstorm to see the lightning on the mountain. Just a shame that the game was not visible, the forest is very good. The single road could perhaps get a few passing sections, otherwise someone will have to drive very far backwards.

Restful. We enjoyed the 2 nights incredibly. Was so beautiful and fun with our 2 teenagers. Had quality time together. Area is beautiful and you feel like you are in the bush. Place was nicely equipped. There was heavy rain over the 2 nights we stayed and unfortunately there were a few leaks in the house, but we still had a great time. The main bedroom's gas geyser was a little difficult to work, but other geysers did work well. We will definitely return again, because it was a nice getaway for us as a family.

Rustig. Ons het die 2 aande ongelooflik geniet. Was so mooi en lekker saam met ons 2 tieners. Kwaliteit tyd saam gehad. Area is pragtig en jy voel of jy in die bos is. Plek was lekker toegerus.

Very peaceful and private. Had a very nice and peaceful stay in nature between the mountains with the most beautiful bird life. Chalet very primitively equipped with everything you need for a nice stay. I'm just not a fan of the paraffin geyser. Excellent customer service.

Lovely rustic stay in beautiful pristine bush. We loved the fact that one feels really far from urban areas, the bush is beautiful and pristine. We also enjoyed that the accommodation is dog-friendly. The unit does need a bit of TLC; however, it is all part of the experience. I learnt a new rather unique life skill - how to use a paraffin heated shower.
