Hawkshead Lodge is a family-friendly accommodation establishment situated on a peaceful 6-hectare smallholding in the Lowveld. The property offers a relaxed country setting where families, couples, and guests travelling with pets can enjoy a comfortable stay surrounded by natural beauty. Ideally positioned as a base for exploring the Lowveld, the lodge is also well-suited for day trips to the Kruger National Park or as a convenient stopover en route to Mozambique. Spacious grounds provide ample room for walking and outdoor activities, while secure parking is available for vehicles, caravans, and trailers.
Accommodation is offered in a selection of well-appointed self-catering units, including Fisheagle Cottage, The Studio, and Barbet. Fisheagle Cottage comprises 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, making it ideal for families or small groups, while The Studio offers a double-volume layout with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Barbet features 2 bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom, providing additional privacy for guests. All units are thoughtfully furnished and include comfortable living areas, fully equipped kitchens, complimentary Wi-Fi, Smart TVs, fireplaces, and private outdoor spaces with braai facilities. Selected units are pet-friendly and include enclosed gardens, making them suitable for guests travelling with their four-legged companions.
Guests have access to a variety of communal facilities designed for relaxation and recreation. These include an outdoor swimming pool, a children's playground, a small gym, and an entertainment area equipped with a pool table, table tennis, table football, and a dartboard. Board games, books, and playing cards are also available. Guests may enjoy leisurely walks around the property, where resident donkeys, a miniature pony, goats, and geese can be seen. The Sundowner Rock lapa provides a scenic spot to relax while taking in views of Mount Carmel, and the property is also well-suited to birdwatching enthusiasts.
Additional facilities include secure gated parking, wheelchair-accessible parking, complimentary tea- and coffee-making facilities, Wi-Fi, luggage storage, and a communal laundry available at an additional cost. Cleaning services can be arranged for an additional fee, and the hosts reside on the property to assist guests when required. Please note that the lodge is situated close to the N4 highway, and traffic noise may be noticeable during the day.
