Katkop Oord offers comfortable overnight and self-catering accommodation on a 1 200-hectare farm near Graafwater. Surrounded by mountains, indigenous vegetation, and expansive farmland views, the property provides a peaceful countryside retreat with a variety of accommodation options to suit different budgets.
Accommodation is offered in spacious self-catering cottages, the Jakkalsdraai cottage collection, and the Klipspringer Cottage.
The self-catering cottages feature open-plan layouts and accommodate 2 guests. Each cottage is furnished with a double bed and has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The kitchen is equipped with a solar-powered fridge, gas stove, cutlery, crockery, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Each cottage also features a private patio and braai area with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and farmlands.
Jakkalsdraai consists of 4 interconnected cottages and offers a budget-friendly accommodation option. Each cottage accommodates up to 5 guests and comprises 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchenette, and a lounge area. The first bedroom is furnished with a double bed, while the second bedroom contains a bunk bed and a single bed. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The kitchenette includes a fridge-freezer, gas hob, basic cookware, cutlery, and crockery. Each cottage has a private patio area, while braai facilities are shared. Please note that the open-plan design offers limited privacy between certain living and sleeping areas.
Klipspringer Cottage is a self-catering unit that accommodates up to 4 guests. It comprises 2 bedrooms, with a double bed in the main bedroom and 2 single beds in the second bedroom. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. The cottage enjoys a scenic position with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape.
All accommodation units are powered by solar energy for lighting, and guests may charge mobile phones and laptops. Each cottage has its own unique décor and furnishings. Complimentary WiFi is available in the reception and shop area.
The farm is home to abundant birdlife and wildlife, including breeding pairs of Verreaux’s eagle, Blue Cranes, tortoises, dassies, and various small antelope species. The dam attracts a wide variety of birds, while the mountainous terrain, wildflowers, and natural vegetation create an ideal environment for hiking and nature walks.
Katkop Oord is situated approximately 16 km from Graafwater on the Vredendal–Graafwater gravel road and is within a 30-minute drive of popular West Coast destinations such as Lamberts Bay and Strandfontein.
During the annual Namaqualand flower season, from July to October, Katkop Oord serves as an excellent base for overnight stays and day trips to experience the region’s spectacular wildflower displays.
