N/A. Overall, the house was really beautiful, but it needs to be cleaned properly. The dishes in the cupboard were still dirty and had to be rewashed. I also had to call reception and ask for new towels because the ones that were in the room had stains and dirt marks.

We loved the game viewing and landscape; service and maintenance is below par. We stayed two nights in Belita’s Rest Unit at Kragga Kamma Game Park. While this unit is advertised as a higher-standard option compared to the adjacent accommodation, our experience did not reflect the level of service one would expect for the rates charged. Two of the bedrooms are beautifully designed and spacious, but the third bedroom, fitted with two single beds, is cramped and not really suited for adult occupants. On our first day, there was no water pressure, leaving us unable to shower or flush toilets. This was reported early the next morning, but the issue was only investigated later that afternoon by staff who had earlier been driving game vehicles. Instead of addressing the problem, one of them made patronising remarks about using water sparingly. The water pressure was only restored on the morning of our departure, which significantly affected our stay. In addition, the shower doors in two of the three bedrooms could not operate properly, forcing us to use the showers with the doors open. There are also no daily cleaning services provided, nor any dedicated technical maintenance staff, which is unexpected given the premium rates charged. We had pre-arranged day visitors to join us for lunch at our unit. Despite them paying the required entrance fees upon arrival, I received WhatsApp reminders during the day stating that all guests must pay entrance fees. This raised the obvious question of who manages access control at the park if visitors are able to enter without confirmation of payment. Overall, the service and communication fell well short of expectations, particularly considering the premium rates charged for the accommodation. A brief “oh, so sorry” does little to address the impact on paying guests. That said, the game viewing and landscape are excellent, and the setting has tremendous potential. With better service standards, clearer communication, and proper maintenance support, the experience could match the quality of the environment.

Thank you for your review. We are excited for you to have experienced our Belita’s Rest! The entire building was designed by an accredited architect to maximise functionality and luxury in every room. We know how frustrating the water shortage was; it was widespread over Gqeberha, with many homes in the area running dry for over 10 days. We did our best to keep our backup borehole system running, and while the process to restore pressure takes time, we were relieved to get water running through the taps eventually. As frustrating as it was, it was unfortunately beyond our control. All guests were requested to use water sparingly to expedite water restoration. Further to this situation, we have recently installed more storage tanks for such future events. The shower doors were inspected after your stay and are now working seamlessly, thank you! To ensure maximum privacy, we do not provide housekeeping at our self-catering establishment. During the check-in process, all guests are notified to contact reception should they need their accommodation serviced. While you may not have seen our maintenance team, our experienced staff works hard in the background focusing on details that make your experience enjoyable. We were aware of your arrangements for additional visitors. However, our gatekeeper encountered issues where two groups of your guests refused to pay the required entrance fees. Despite our staff providing multiple notifications regarding this policy, your visitors did not comply, requiring us to involve you directly multiple times. Our access is monitored, with many systems in place that handle all access, ensuring only authorised and paying visitors are allowed into our Park. Following the outlined procedures provided to you in advance, more effective entry of your guests could have been accomplished, preventing delays and frustration.
