Description
Little Eden at Buffelspad is a remote paradise on a nature reserve overlooking the Klein Koue Bokkeveld, 20 km from the farming town of Citrusdal. The Western side of our property borders the Cederberg Wilderness which was proclaimed a World Heritage area in 2004.
The recent fire in the Cederberg which started on 22nd December 2025 near the top of the Uitkyk pass finally reached our property on 1st January 2026. The Fynbos vegetation on the western side of our property has been badly burnt but thanks to the magnificent fire and helicopters crews, was put out before it could damage our neighbours orchards. The eastern side of the property, where Little Eden and Nina’s House are located, is untouched. When walking the trails on the property one now has the opportunity of comparing pristine untouched Fynbos with Fynbos recovering from fire. As soon as we get the first rains we will see amazing regeneration. Fynbos requires periodic fires to disperse seeds and regenerate. The views from the walks remain unsurpassed!
The first bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed and offers an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower-over-bath. The second bedroom has a queen- size bed, and the third bedroom has 2 bunk beds. The second bathroom is fitted with a shower.
The cottage is completely off the grid. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and contains a gas stove, oven, fridge-freezer, cutlery, and crockery. The living area features a dining table with ample seating, a comfortable couch, and a cosy fireplace. Lighting is solar and there is a small inverter to charge devices.
Less than 100 m from the house is a crystal-clear pool shaded by a lapa and fed by a natural spring, which maintains a refreshing temperature year-round.
There are approximately 10 km of walking trails on the property, which offer incredible views and occasional sightings of local wildlife species, which include grey reeboks, black eagles, sunbirds, cape sugarbirds, lizards, porcupines, and occasional baboons and African wildcats. A stay at Little Eden is a chance to disconnect from the pressures of the daily grind, reconnect with nature, and reboot the body and soul.
