Loerie's Rest Cabin is a charming wooden retreat nestled within the private Ballots Bay Nature Reserve near George, offering spacious self-catering accommodation surrounded by indigenous forest and breathtaking views of the Outeniqua Mountains. The reserve is home to an abundance of wildlife, including zebra, wildebeest, ostrich, bushbuck and over 200 bird species.
One of the highlights of a stay at Loerie's Rest is the daily visit from the spectacular Knysna turaco (Loerie), one of the Garden Route's most iconic birds. Guests can often watch these colourful birds feeding on a banana on the deck railing.
The house comfortably accommodates up to six guests in three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The main bedroom features a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower, toilet and washbasin. The second and third bedrooms each contain a double bed and are served by two additional bathrooms fitted with either a bath or a shower.
The open-plan kitchen and living area create a warm and inviting space for families and friends to relax. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge-freezer, oven, gas stove, microwave, dishwasher, cutlery, crockery and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The cosy lounge features comfortable seating, a fireplace and a TV, opening onto a spacious deck with outdoor dining, daybeds and a braai area overlooking the forest.
Complimentary Wi-Fi, secure covered parking and backup power via an inverter ensure a comfortable stay throughout the year.
