Not at all. I made the reservation a year ago and paid in full for a three-bedroom family unit as advertised. A month before the reservation, I was told that the original unit apparently had a problem and that a lower standard unit was being offered. I reluctantly accepted the new unit, as we would not find alternative accommodation within walking distance a month before the Afrikaans is Groot concert.
However, the hostess undertook that, if I accepted the new unit, there would be no further problems with our reservation. However, the afternoon before arrival, I was informed that even this replacement unit was not available, and that two separate units would be the only option. It was promised that the units would be next to each other and would still be able to function as a type of family unit (we were 2 adults and 3 children).
On the day of arrival, after further frustration and uncertainty at reception regarding our reservation, I was told that the units were on different floors on opposite sides of the building. The website was apparently informed of this, but I received no communication from their office. Again, I was forced to accept these units, as it was shortly before the show and we were already late for a pre-show dinner appointment due to the problems at reception.
However, both units were also substandard and unhygienic. Unit 802 had water damage to the walls; the unit had not been cleaned, as there were still food crumbs from the previous guests on the carpet. There were toiletries and trash from the previous guests in one bathroom, and stains in the toilet in the other bathroom. I suspect the linens had not been changed, and there was no hand soap or toilet paper. The refrigerator had an unpleasant odor, the patio floor was dirty, and there was bird droppings on the countertop of the patio.
Unit 1035 was in better condition, although it was also not properly clean, with dust everywhere and food from the previous guests in the refrigerator. The sliding door in one room did not lock, which is a clear safety risk.
It is frustrating that the feedback process forces me to choose at least one star in each of the categories. If I could, I would have given no stars. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a stay.
There was feedback about poor service from a previous guest, and I wish I had paid more attention to it. I hope this feedback helps future guests.
