We had the services for technical problems from Thomas. The house was well appointed with lovely crockery and plenty of glasses. It had a gas heater too, as the evenings were chilly. It was difficult to switch the heater on, but we had our own with us. There was also a humidifier which made the house smell nice, as sometimes these holiday homes smell damp. I suggest a file showing how to switch on the TV and dishwasher. There was only a detail of how to operate the washing machine.

The unit is well equipped, neat, modern and well located. There is however a very strange smell in the cupboards and drawers. Footsteps/running noise levels from the tenants in the unit above are really loud, up until midnight at times and then start again very early in the morning. It would be great if they could be more considerate towards tenants in the unit below. Also recommended that they include at least a standing fan for the warm and stuffy nights.

Weekend break in Kalk Bay. The property is ideally located on the main road, close to coffee shops, restaurants and the beach. Parking is a massive problem and even though the advert says parking is available, they don't mention that there are only 3. So we parked in the street. Lugging luggage across the busy road takes a while. The unit is huge - lovely lounge and dining area, and a good size kitchen. Take care when using the kitchen tap as it's not secure (comes off when you open it) so you have to fix it after each use. Some of the kitchen cupboard hinges are loose and broken - again, use with care. The bedrooms were clean and fresh towels provided. Bring your own soap and shampoo. The flushing mechanism for the loo in the first bathroom was damaged and there are signs of mildew in the main bathroom. Upstairs neighbours are quite noisy (sounds like they have a herd of cattle up there). The humidifier in the lounge area removed much of the damp smell, but can see signs of damp crystallising on the walls. Kalk Bay is a lovely breakaway spot for a weekend, has a lot to offer and is worth a visit.
