Lovely positioned large house in Plett. The house was large and had great spaces. Rooms were a great size. Position in Plett was lovely, with a view from the two upstairs bedrooms and patio. Lovely security estate. The maid that helped us was lovely. But: No fans in the rooms - very hot. "Mobile" air cons did not work. WiFi was not great, especially in the main bedroom. Every room had huge cockroaches that I spent the whole holiday killing. The more I killed, the more came out. The garden was filled with old dog poop and the patio needed a serious clean when we arrived. There was no drying line in the property. We had to dry washing on a small wire stand which was almost impossible for seven people. The main bedroom was like a lightbox: no blockout curtains meant the room was hot and light from 5am. Really needs a fan/air con, and dark curtains. Shower heads in all bathrooms were very blocked with scale, worst in the second bathroom upstairs. Kitchen was very undersupplied. Two wine glasses for the whole house, potato peeler broken, wine bottle opener broken. Knives were so blunt I had to go get more and I just took them home with me. One small chopping board for the whole kitchen. I bought another one and just took it home with me. It feels like the family locked away a lot of their stuff, which is understandable, but it left the house feeling very basic for what I paid for the rental. Friends paying a similar amount had Le Creuset mugs, a nice coffee machine, gorgeous cutlery and crockery. It just felt very basic.
