The braai still had last people's meat stuck in the braai grid, and we couldn't use the braai, so we actually had to go and buy more food. We love welcoming guests to Oorgenoeg and it is really important to me that they have a deeply relaxing and comforting experience from the moment they drive through our gates. I remember that it was a particularly rainy Friday when you arrived and I am sorry that you could not use the braai due to rainwater inside. If we drill holes in the braai it would unfortunately rust, hence the fact that the water could not drain. The braai was originally designed specifically for the treehouse and fitted with a lid - the hinge unexpectedly broke earlier that week and at the time of your arrival we were still awaiting the new bracket to arrive. For now we've replaced the lid on top without the bracket to keep water out and I am hoping the new bracket will be ready soon. I assure you that our hot tubs are drained and thoroughly scrubbed and cleaned as soon as guests exit the accommodation. They are then refilled again just before guests check in. For as long as we've had tubs this has always been the case. The debate around the supply of wood continues and depends on each individual establishment - after many years of trying various ways of dealing with this and the rising cost of everything we've found that the best way for us is to pack the tub's oven with a small starter of a couple of pieces of wood and blitz - additional wood is then for the guests' own account. We do keep wood on the premises and are always happy to supply or help guests should they need it.
