Description
Riverfront Guesthouse Watermeadows Farm offers self-catering accommodation situated directly on the banks of the Karatara River in Ruigtevlei, Sedgefield. Surrounded by indigenous forest and native fynbos, the farm provides a tranquil retreat with riverfront access and a private jetty ideal for fishing, kayaking, and birdwatching. The property is located a short drive from local swimming beaches, surfing spots, and the Knysna Lagoon, and is approximately a 25-minute drive from the town of Knysna.
The guesthouse comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests across four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The main bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed, the second bedroom has a queen-size bed, and the third bedroom contains a double bed. The fourth bedroom is fitted with both a double bed and two single beds, making it ideal for families. Each of the three bathrooms is equipped with a shower and toilet. All bed linen and bath towels are provided.
The open-plan indoor living area features a fully equipped kitchen, an eight-seater dining table, and a lounge anchored by an indoor fireplace. Kitchen amenities include a gas stove, oven, microwave, fridge-freezer, large chest freezer, ice maker, kettle, and toaster.
Outdoors, the property offers two expansive patios equipped with braai facilities, outdoor furniture, and an outdoor dining area overlooking the river landscape. Guests have access to a private pool, as well as a secondary garden swimming pool, a shared fire pit, and the river jetty (which are shared with an adjacent Studio apartment when occupied). On-site activities include hiking, bush walks, table tennis, kayaking, fishing, and swimming, with regional cycling routes, golf courses, water sports, and wine tasting located nearby.
Please note that due to the farm's setting amidst natural forests and riverways, local wildlife such as geckos and insects are a natural part of the rustic environment.
