Postcard views and a home away from home. We had such a lovely stay at Rus en Raas in Plettenberg Bay! The location was perfect — pretty much everything you need is within walking distance or just a very short drive away, including restaurants and grocery shops. But the real highlight has to be the view. The house has the most breathtaking view over the bay, and we were incredibly lucky to spot whales out in the bay every single day. The house itself is lovely and spacious, and it was perfect for our family. All the rooms face the sea, so we got to wake up to the most beautiful sunrises every morning. There’s also a gorgeous yard overlooking the bay, a braai area with an amazing view, and an outdoor shower which was perfect for rinsing off after sandy beach days. And then there’s Gaby, who really is the perfect host. She gave us some great local recommendations for kid-friendly restaurants and things to do, and she checked in with us throughout our stay to make sure everything was okay and that we had everything we needed. One of the little things that really stood out was that she even arranged a feeding chair for our 8-month-old. It might sound like a small thing, but it meant one less bulky item for us to pack and gave us some much-needed extra luggage space! Overall, Rus en Raas was a beautiful, comfortable place; it felt like a home away from home. The views, the location and the little personal touches made our stay really special. We’d definitely love to come back!
