Disappointing and poor from SANParks, extremely poor.
A big no: 1. The campsite is dirty (old tires x3, trash cans and bottles). Clearly no maintenance is done. 2. A permanent cattle pen has been erected in the campsite under the best tree in the site. I pay for a proper stand, why should a cattle farmer get the advantage? There are demarcated cattle pen posts indicated in the park where the local population may/can store their cattle (goats), there is no indication within the campsite! 3. No effort is made to prune trees for shade. There is no indication of stands. The park could at least make an effort to make it convenient for a camper in terms of a stand (shade and an indication). 4. Flooded litter (branches, stumps, etc.) is part of maintenance/cleaning. Surely it can be removed in some way. According to a park representative, inspections are done on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays at the campsites. In my opinion this is just a tick mark and no action is taken by the parks maintenance department and management to keep the nature, environment and campsite clean and tidy. In my opinion these are excuses from management and half-hearted actions by the parks management to fulfil their responsibility towards nature, camper/visitor. Apart from the beautiful nature and fresh air, Richtersberg campsite was a big disappointment and I hope that drastic steps will be taken by the parks management to address my and other visitors' disappointments. Poor - SA National Parks, poor, poor, poor! Pull up your socks.
Teleurstellend en swak van Sanparke, uiters swak.
N groot nee: 1. Die kampterrein is vuil (ou wiel bande x3, rommelblikkies en bottels). Duidelik word daar geen instandhouding gedoen nie. 2. N vaste vee-kraal is opgerig in die kampterrein onder die beste boom in die terrein. Ek betaal vir n behoorlike staanplek, waarom moet n veeboer die voordeel kry? Daar is afgebakende vee-kraal poste aangedui in die park waar die plaaslike bevolking hulle vee (bokke) mag/kan berg, daar is geen aanduiding binne die kampterrein nie! 3. Geen moeite word gedoen om bome te snoei vir skaduwee nie. Daar is geen aanduiding van staanplekke nie. Die park kan ten minste n poging aanwend om dit gerieflik te maak vir n kampeerder in terme van n staanplek (skaduwee en n aanduiding). 4. Vloed rommel (takke, stompe, ens.) vorm deel van instandhouding/skoonmaak. Sekerlik kan dit op n manier verwyder word. Volgens n parke verteenwoordiger word daar inspeksies op Dinsdae en/of Donderdae by die kampterreine gedoen. In my opinie is dit net n tick-merk en word geen aksie deur die parke-instandhouding afdeling en bestuur gedoen om die natuur, omgewing en kampterrein skoon en netjies te hou nie. In my opinie is dit verskonings van bestuur en halfhartige optrede van die parke-bestuur om hulle verantwoordelikheid teenoor die natuur, kampeerder/besoeker te vervul. Behalwe vir die pragtige natuur en vars lug was Richtersberg kampterrein n groot teleurstelling en ek hoop dat drastiese stappe geneem sal word deur die parke-bestuur om my en ander besoekers se teleurstellings te adresseer. Swak - SA Nasionale parke, swak, swak, swak! Trek op julle sokkies.
