Description

Shady Glade is a cosy self-catering unit with a private entrance, located on the owner's property in Assagay. It's ideal for corporate or leisure travellers.

Shady Glade can comfortably accommodate 2 guests in a double bed. The unit has 2 chairs and a wardrobe. The private bathroom is fitted with a toilet, bath and shower. Linen and towels are provided.

There is also a bar fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, and tea and coffee-making facilities, as well as a breakfast table and bench. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi.

Guests have access to a swimming pool and braai facilities, as well as secure on-site parking. The location of this property is close to shops, restaurants, and malls.

A second room, which contains a three-quarter bed, is attached to the main room. This is suitable for a third adult - at an additional cost of R350 - or a child under 12 years of age.

We have dogs on this property, so we expect that our guests are fond of dogs. We are proud of our abundant birdlife due to the many trees and shrubs at Shady Glade.

We are still only half an hour from Durban beachfront, and about 40 minutes from Umhlanga. Both beachfronts have specially designed promenades, Durban for cyclists as well as walkers, and Umhlanga for walkers/runners.

Being nearly at the Comrades Halfway mark of Drumond, the Midlands Meander is easily accessible for a day's outing.

Shady Glade is well positioned for many other places of interest in the area, such as the Mushroom Farm which boasts many small local shops, as well as the original Mushroom Shop and Honey Shop, as well as the biggest supplier of ceramic plant pots in South Africa. Shongweni Club - which is famous for hosting international polo matches, as well as showjumping events, is just on the other side of the M13, and has a friendly pub, a Friday night live band and very reasonably priced pub meals and a selection of draft beers.

Less than a kilometer past Shongweni Club is the new Westown shopping centre, with a wide variety of shops and eateries with a continental, outdoor feel. Another five kms away is the well-known Shongweni Farmers Market, held every Saturday from 6 am to 2 pm. More information is available on their website, but there is truly something for everyone at this Market, including of course the wide range of fresh, home-grown vegetables and flowers.

Hillcrest itself has a vast array of restaurants and cafes which cater to all tastes from sea food, Italian, French, Indian as well as all the pizza and takeaway options which can be ordered online.

We pride ourselves on having an almost English climate, with our evenings being pleasantly cool and very rarely with the humidity found along the Zwa Zulu Natal coast.
