Orange Cottage @ Simonskloof Mountain Retreat offers a unique off-grid escape, 50 km west of Montagu. Nestled in the serene ecotone of the Succulent Karoo and Mountain Fynbos, this eco-friendly cottage is ideal for couples or small families seeking a tranquil retreat immersed in nature. With breathtaking views, diverse medicinal plants, and abundant wildlife, it is also suitable for yoga and healthy living workshops.
The cottage accommodates 4 guests in 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, and the second bedroom has 2 single beds. The bathroom is fitted with a solar-heated shower with gas backup. The kitchenette includes a fridge, 2-plate gas hob, and all necessary pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery for self-catering. Wi-Fi is available on request.
The cottage features an indoor fireplace, an outdoor fire pit-braai, and a bathtub under the open sky. Guests can relax on the veranda hammock and enjoy uninterrupted views of the fynbos-covered hills. Secure parking is available next to the cottage, and access is suitable for standard vehicles.
Orange Cottage offers a range of outdoor activities, including short hikes, rock climbing, and swimming in the farm dam or nearby rock pools. Guided adventures such as canyoning, wilderness trekking, and abseiling are also available. The retreat has a 50 km+ network of hiking trails, including the renowned Gecko Trail, making it ideal for nature lovers and adventurers.
The cottage has no electricity, charging may be possible at reception via a small solar system.
