Outstanding style and hospitality - exceeding one's expectations. One of my best weekends in Kalk Bay - The guesthouse is particularly nice - friendly and hospitable, beautiful and luxurious - close to so many places. Was for my friend's birthday weekend and the stay rounded off the celebrations with the word "perfect".

Sonnekus Hotel stay. The hotel is beautiful and in a wonderful location. Our host was amazing and also made us the best vegan breakfast. The only complaint is that the taps above our bath (in room 9) were leaking. They have used silicone to keep the water from running onto the floor, but it is not working. So a lot of water ended up on the floor. Our woven bath mat and loose bath mat were completely soaked. So we also did not shower in the morning (the shower is in the bath) as we did not have a dry mat. We did mention it to the host when we left. If they sort out the water issue, we will definitely consider going back as it is really a beautiful place in a quiet area and very peaceful.

Nice. Easy walk from St James railway station. Easy walk all the way to Kalkbaai Harbour. Friendly welcome, comfortable bed and good shower. Breakfast a good start to the day with lekker coffee.

Lovely stay! Will definitely book again, but possibly a warmer, quieter room. My daughter and I were impressed by the accommodation, sea view, yummy breakfast, friendliness and helpfulness of staff. We had an enjoyable stay. Downsides: room cold, thank goodness for the fireplace. Shower ran hot and cold. We expected a full breakfast, but it was either yoghurt/cereal or egg and toast. Location not ideal; didn't expect such a busy road with traffic noise almost 24/7. But at least it is within walking distance to shops, church, beach and train.

Pleasant Stay. Stay was pleasant enough. The downside of the location is the noise factor. We were in back "garden room" but even so the sound of the traffic which goes all night long is far too noisy to experience a good night's sleep. Walking through bar area into our room, it also felt a bit open. Keep the rooms to washing room area closed, etc as one doesn't need to be looking into that. Lighting could be brighter in bathroom and room too.
