Description
Strawcroft is an eco-friendly, self-catering cottage set in complete seclusion, offering uninterrupted views of the Eastern Free State’s sandstone mountains. Built from straw bales, the cottage blends naturally into its tranquil surroundings, with the pristine Wilge River nearby and a scenic waterfall accessible on foot or by car.
The home comprises 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, accommodating 8 adults and 3 children. The first bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed, the second with a queen-size bed, and the third with a double bed. The fourth bedroom has 2 single beds, while the fifth bedroom is furnished with a child-size single bed. There are also 2 child-size single beds in the living area. The first bathroom is fitted with both a bath and a shower, the second with a shower, and the third with a toilet only.
The open-plan living area features a comfortable lounge with a fireplace and a dining area. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, gas and electric stove, oven, toaster, and microwave. Firewood is provided for the fireplace and braai.
An extensive library and a selection of board games provide relaxed indoor entertainment, while outdoor spaces include a patio and garden with mountain views, outdoor furniture, and braai facilities.
Strawcroft is ideally positioned for nature-based activities, including hiking, mountain biking, cycling along quiet gravel roads, and river walks. Day trips can be enjoyed to nearby attractions such as the Nambiti Big 5 Game Reserve, Clarens, the Amphitheatre chain ladders at Mont-aux-Sources, and the central Drakensberg.
Secure covered parking is available, and guests are welcomed with an in-person greeting. Wi-Fi is provided, and cleaning services and babysitting can be arranged at an additional cost.
