Affordable. Quiet. Top quality. The accommodation was first class. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful at all times. The peaceful farm atmosphere definitely gets a 10 out of 10. There is so much for all ages to do and enjoy. Even for me, who has extremely difficult walking, there were sufficient adjustments made. The canopy with picnic tables is in the perfect place. I was able to sit quietly and watch the world go by while my daughter and granddaughter fed the animals and rode horses. The purchases at the shop and tuck shop that are put on your (tab) make payment so much easier. The goat feeding times were a highlight for my granddaughter and the donkey milk tasting session was very interesting for me. Thank you very much for an unforgettable weekend.

Bekostigbaar. Rustig. Top gehalte. Die verblyf was eerste klas. Die personeel was te alle tye vriendelik en uiters behulpsaam. Die rustige plaasatmosfeer kry beslis 10 uit tien. Daar is soveel vir alle ouderdomme om te doen en te geniet. Selfs vir my, wat uiters moeilik loop, was daar genoegsame aanpassings gemaak.

Beautiful stay, amazing hosts, happy kid, unforgettable memories. Such incredible hosts! From checking in before we even arrived, helping with directions, and making sure we were comfortable throughout. They truly went above and beyond. And my 6-year-old? Absolutely loved it! Feeding and playing with the animals, plus the beautiful hike. She had the best time!

A beautiful weekend away on a farm. We absolutely loved our stay at this farm. It was exactly what we wanted. The quaint farm-style cottage accommodation was charming and had everything that was needed. The kitchen was very well equipped for self-catering, the bed was beautifully comfortable, and the patio looking out at the animals was wonderful. We loved the beautiful animals roaming freely so we could interact with them. The activities provided were really fun for the kids. My kids rode their bikes around the farm all day and had an absolute blast. The forest walking/hiking trails were great. They have a shop selling simple meals at good prices. I would recommend a visit to any animal lover. This is a farm stay, so be prepared for farm life. Our weekend was a breath of fresh air.

Wonderful and wholesome. We loved our stay at the Donkey Dairy. It was such a wholesome farmstay, with the divine sounds of the farm creating a peaceful mood. The farm animals are oh so cute. The staff were friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The hikes in the forest were breathtaking. Rooms were clean and well equipped, and we had the most wonderful weekend. Oh, and food from the kitchen was great!

Highly recommended for an amazing family friendly farm experience. We loved every second of our 2 night stay. Even though it was a bit cold, we lit a fire and we were nice and warm. The kids absolutely loved all the animals. Bottle feeding the baby goats, petting the bunnies, donkeys, feeding the pigs, the chickens, zebra, camels and more. Picking our own lemons. The quiet was so refreshing. It is a farm so the animals do make their noises even at night, but we loved the experience. The cottage was neat with everything you need. We felt right at home. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Wonderful! Fantastic! We had a wonderful experience. The unit is very well equipped. We enjoyed our privacy and the staff went out of their way to make our visit as wonderful as possible. We will definitely go again. It was one of our best vacations.

Wonderlik! Fantasties!

Farm-life fun. This is a wonderful place to stay for those who enjoy farm life. The sounds of all the animals – especially at night – provide a welcome escape from suburban noise. It is delightful to walk around the farm at your leisure and interact with the wide variety of animals, and to watch them wandering past the cottage (bags of pellets for feeding are sold in the shop). All the animals are in great condition and appear to be very well cared for, which was important for us. Special shout out to Xander, who manned the lovely shop during our stay and was super friendly, and to the owner, who was most hospitable and kind. The hike up to Longears Lookout is challenging at times, with very steep parts and lots of rocks, but the view from the top is well worth the climb. The firm, supportive bed in the unit is conducive to an excellent night’s rest, the water pressure in the shower is fantastic, and the patio with built-in sinks to wash up during your braai is a real treat. The braai was expertly cleaned out the morning after we used it. Listed in the amenities but not shown in the photos: the kitchen also features a well-sized combo fridge/freezer, microwave and small air fryer. A few things to note: 1) The Barn House is the cottage closest to the shop. Cars pull up next to the cottage each morning when people arrive for work, the tractor is housed under the cottage’s carport in between rounds, and pony rides come past the front of the cottage. Those who prefer more privacy may prefer one of the other units. 2) The accommodation is described as fully off-grid and solar-powered, but it is in fact hooked up to the Eskom grid, with solar used as a backup if needed (it does not switch over automatically). We were without power from 7.30 pm to 7.30 am on the first night of our stay because an evening storm caused an area-wide Eskom outage. There was only one oil lamp for light around the cottage. I would recommend that guests take some battery-powered lights with in case this happens. 3) The block of firelighters and bag of wood left by the fireplace and braai are not complimentary; you will be charged for them if you use them. 4) Although one free bottle feeding of baby goats per guest is included in your stay, we were sadly not afforded the opportunity during our two-night stay, despite asking. Perhaps guests need to ask directly to organise this experience.
