Description
The House on the Hill is a self-catering cottage located at the top end of Long Street in the quaint village of McGregor. The cottage is one of the older cottages in town, dating from 1865. Recently, a contemporary studio has been added to allow for additional accommodation near the pool with an optional vintage caravan that dates back to the 1930s.
The main cottage can comfortably accommodate up to 4 guests and comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and a kitchen and a living area. The first bedroom is furnished with a double bed, and the second bedroom is furnished with 2 single beds. The bathroom is fitted with a bath and a shower.
The kitchen is equipped with a stove and oven, a fridge, a microwave, a kettle and a toaster. The cosy living area contains comfy seating, and free Wi-Fi is available.
The front of the main house offers a languid stoep that awaits your morning coffee and alfresco meals at a rustic table with seating. The backdoor opens on another smaller stoep with seating that leads to the braai facilities and an unfenced swimming pool area. Plenty of off-street parking is available.
The studio cottage is furnished with a queen-sized bed in an open-plan space that opens onto a large stoep overlooking the swimming pool.
The kitchenette is equipped with a microwave oven, kettle, toaster, fridge, and induction hot plate. The bathroom features a glass-topped sky-view shower as well as a secluded outdoor bath, perfect for star-gazing soaks after leisurely days.
Completing the setting is a vintage wooden caravan that first journeyed across Du Toitskloof in the 1930s and made its final trip in 2022 to rest at House on the Hill. The caravan offers 2 single beds and is ideal for families with adventurous children.
All in all, House on the Hill offers an eclectic and comfortable break from city life. Visitors can elect to book either the original house or the studio, or both. Together, it can accommodate 8 people. Whichever option is chosen, guests will have the entire property to themselves.
The property is situated directly opposite the entrance to a reserve, which is great for walking in the koppies.
