The House on the Hill is a self-catering cottage located at the upper end of Long Street in the quaint village of McGregor. Dating back to 1865, it is one of the oldest cottages in the area, offering an eclectic and comfortable escape from city life.
The property includes a main house, a studio near the pool, and an optional vintage caravan dating back to the 1930s. Guests can choose to book the original house, the studio, or both, and when booked together the property can accommodate up to 8 guests, making it ideal for 2 families or a group of friends. Regardless of the option selected, guests will enjoy exclusive use of the property.
The main cottage comfortably accommodates up to 4 guests and comprises 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living area. The first bedroom is furnished with a double bed, while the second bedroom has 2 single beds. The bathroom is fitted with both a bath and a shower.
The kitchen is equipped with a stove and oven, fridge, microwave, kettle, and toaster, while the cosy living area offers comfortable seating and free Wi-Fi.
The front of the main house features a relaxed stoep ideal for morning coffee and alfresco dining at a rustic table with seating. At the back, a smaller stoep provides additional seating and leads to the braai facilities and an unfenced swimming pool area. Ample off-street parking is available.
The studio cottage offers an open-plan layout furnished with a queen-sized bed and opens onto a large stoep overlooking the swimming pool. The kitchenette includes a microwave oven, kettle, toaster, fridge, and induction hot plate. The bathroom features a glass-topped sky-view shower as well as a secluded outdoor bath, ideal for star-gazing soaks after leisurely days.
A vintage wooden caravan, which first journeyed across Du Toitskloof in the 1930s and completed its final trip in 2022 to The House on the Hill, provides additional accommodation with two single beds and is ideal for families with adventurous children.
The property is situated directly opposite the entrance to a reserve, offering excellent opportunities for walking in the koppies.
