Description
The River Retreat Kogelberg is a tranquil self-catering escape near Kleinmond, situated within the UNESCO-listed Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve and next to the Kogelberg Nature Reserve. Surrounded by mountain scenery and indigenous fynbos, the retreat offers 2 secluded riverside cabins, Upstream and Downstream, providing a peaceful setting for nature lovers.
Each cabin can accommodate up to 4 guests and comprises 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The main bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed that can be converted into 2 single beds, while the second bedroom contains 2 single beds. A stretcher with a mattress can be provided by prior arrangement for families travelling with 3 children. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, while a separate toilet is also available. Linen and bath towels are provided.
The well-equipped kitchen includes a gas stove with an oven, fridge-freezer, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The open-plan living area is furnished with comfortable seating and features a wood-burning fireplace, with 1 complimentary bundle of firewood provided. Large glass windows and sliding doors open onto an outdoor dining deck, while the spacious terrace is furnished for outdoor relaxation.
The cabins are completely off-grid and powered by solar energy, with water sourced from a natural mountain spring. Both cabins are privately positioned among the fynbos and offer mountain views and easy access to the river. The cabins are within proximity of each other, making the retreat well suited to hiking groups or 2 families travelling together. Guests can enjoy hiking, birdwatching, and swimming in the river, while secure parking is also available.
