Vryheid Farm Guesthouse offers a peaceful self-catering escape on a fully enclosed game and cattle farm, just over an hour from Gqeberha and within easy reach of some of the Eastern Cape's best safari and coastal experiences.
Surrounded by open landscapes, wildlife and the quite rhythm of farm life, this hidden gem is ideal for families or groups wanting to slow down, reconnect and enjoy quality time in nature.
The space
The stylish farmhouse can accommodate up to 10 guests and offers 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The main bedroom has a king -size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, the third bedroom has a double bed, and the fourth bedroom is ideal for children, with 2 bunk beds. The remaining rooms share a full bathroom with a bath and shower, and there is also a separate guest toilet.
The home features generous open-plan living space, a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove and oven, a comfortable lounge area, and a large stacker door that opens onto the veranda with a built-in braai. The indoor wood-burning fireplace warms the home beautifully in winter, creating the perfect setting for slow evening, boards games, good conversation and time away from the ruch of everyday life.
Vryheid is home to a variety of wildlife, including impala, nyala, kudu, duiker and warthog, with birdlife and farm view adding to the peaceful atmosphere. Guests are welcome to walk, mountain bike or explore designated roads within the game section of the farm. Those interested in farm life can also chat to the farm manager about the daily actives on the working cattle and game farm.
The guesthouse is also perfectly located for day trips and adventure. Nearby attritions included Amakhala Game Reserve, Shamwari, Lalibela, Pumba, Addo Elephant National Park, Sundays River Adventures, Kenton-on-sea and Port Alfred. From game drives and river cruises to canoeing, sandboarding, beaches, fishing, golf and local restaurants, there is plenty to enjoy within driving distance.

From Port Elizabeth, take the N2 towards Grahamstown/Makhanda. Approximately 50 km from Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha is an intersection. Keep left on the N2 towards Grahamstown/Makhanda for another
(+- 20km).
