Yellow House is located on the edge of the village of Prince Albert, offering a tranquil Karoo escape with views of the surrounding mountains, almond orchards, and traditional gardens. It is an ideal setting to relax, enjoy sunsets, and experience the quiet beauty of the Karoo.
Accommodation is provided in 5 self-catering units, each accommodating between 2 and 4 guests. All units feature en-suite, open-plan bathrooms and are equipped for self-catering. Linen and towels are provided, and secure on-site parking is available.
Yellow House is one of the historic “dorpsplase,” with cottages dating back to the era when Thomas Baines was constructing the nearby Swartberg Pass. The cottages are simply and tastefully decorated, complementing the natural light and peaceful surroundings. Guests can enjoy spacious interiors, private braai facilities, and comfortable amenities such as heating, electric blankets, and warm duvets for cooler Karoo evenings. A swimming pool set in the orchard offers a refreshing retreat, with shaded seating and loungers.
The property is pet-friendly, and well-behaved pets are welcome.
On-site, the licensed restaurant Yellow House EAT serves lunch and dinner, with a seasonal menu that caters to a variety of tastes, including vegan and vegetarian options. Meals can be enjoyed under the trees or inside the original farmhouse.
For active guests, the property is ideally located near Swartberg Pass and Meiringspoort, making it a great base for walking and cycling. The town centre, with its shops, galleries, museums, and eateries, is within easy reach. Guided botanical and historical walks can also be arranged.
Guests can enjoy scenic walks such as Gordon’s Koppie or the local reservoir, both offering panoramic views. Additional experiences include massages, yoga and Pilates sessions, as well as optional business coaching sessions.
Prince Albert also hosts a variety of festivals and events throughout the year, including Journey2Jazz, Vino Camino, the Prince Albert Book Festival, Gamka Klassiek, Open Gardens, Open Studios, Prince2George Cycling Tour, shows at The Showroom Theatre, and the Swartberg Beer Festival.
