Description

De Kuile Safari Tents:
Nestled in the mountains of the Ouberg Private Nature Reserve is the ideal getaway for guests seeking a peaceful and tranquil escape - just 20 km from the charming village of Montagu. De Kuile Tented Camp offers self-catering rustic glamping, for singles, couples, friends, or small groups in comfortable tents surrounded by majestic mountain ranges. De Kuile Tented Camp accommodates a maximum of 9 guests in 4 safari-style tents, mounted on wooden decks.

Each safari-style glamping tent has 2 single beds and a deck with 2 chairs and a little table. The Family Tent is equipped with 2 single beds plus a stretcher for a third person. Limited solar power is available in each tent to charge small devices, but it is insufficient for a hair dryer. The tents share a communal kitchen and dining area, an entertainment boma with a plunge pool on the deck, a fire pit, a braai boma area, and a bathroom facility with hot showers. Free Wifi, but there is no cell reception.

Campsite @ De Kuile:
If you prefer to bring your own tent or camper, we have a basic campsite with 5 separate stands, along the banks of the seasonal stream. Each of the five sites can accommodate 4 people. The campsites are basic - a small braai, a freshwater tap, and a reed pergola for shade and to enjoy your meals under. No grass (Karoo-style), no power, no cell reception, but there is free WiFi. The shared bathroom has 2 flush loos and 2 outdoor hot showers. A roofed scullery area with a double sink is the place to clean your dishes after a lekker braai.
The campsite has its own plunge pool, shaded in the afternoon by an old Gwarrie tree. Relax in the water while looking over the campsite and the surrounding mountains.

Klippie - A Roof-top Tent Experience:
An opportunity to sleep in a roof-top tent on a well-equipped camper permanently installed on one of De Kuile's campsites. Ideal for a couple, or a solo traveler. The tent has a double bed (bedding & linen provided), and the camper is equipped with basic camping equipment. There is a small braai on Klippie's site. Just bring your food, beverages, clothes and a little spirit of adventure and enjoy a night or two sleeping under the Klein Karoo stars.
Klippie's guests share the campsite bathroom with hot water outdoor showers flush toilets and a small scullery for washing dishes.

All guests can access much of the 900-hectare nature reserve, perfect for hiking, mountain or gravel biking, and birding & botanizing. About 200m from the Camp, there is a labyrinth to walk - very special at sunset and sunrise.

Please note that there is NO cell reception, but guests have access to free WiFi in the camp area only. Water is from a borehole. Limited power (solar) available in some of the accommodation.
