Hidden deep within the untamed beauty of the Balule Game Reserve, Hideaways Amava River Lodge offers an authentic tented safari adventure on the banks of the Olifants River. This serene and secluded camp is perfectly positioned on a gentle river bend, where the water flows steadily through the wilderness — a lifeline that draws elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and countless bird species to its edge.
From its raised wooden decks, the camp gazes out across wide, open stretches of river flanked by reeds and riverine forest. Each sunrise lights up the water in soft gold, and each sunset fades into the peaceful hum of the bush. It’s a place where guests can truly disconnect, slow down, and feel the rhythm of the wild.
Amava River Lodge features four free-standing tented units, each privately positioned to blend into the natural surroundings. Designed for two guests, the tents are comfortably furnished with either a king-size bed or twin beds on request. Every unit has its own bathroom, complete with an outdoor shower, basin, and flushing toilet — a refreshing way to stay connected to nature while still enjoying comfort and privacy. Crisp linen and towels are provided, ensuring a relaxed and restful stay.
A spacious deck overlooking the river invites guests to enjoy quiet moments of reflection, morning coffee as the bush awakens, or evening sundowners while elephants wade in the shallows.
