We generally check the comparison pricing of other self-catering studio flats in the area once a year, and so far our rates have been on point as we take into consideration that we offer Egyptian cotton bedding and towels, Whitehouse bathroom amenities (hand cream, air freshener, shampoo and soap) plus Jacob’s coffee sachets, milk, blitz, matches and braai wood.
We prefer to offer a step above standard linen and towels (for example) as we host guests on honeymoon and for their anniversary breakaways, and want to offer something special.
Thank you for sharing your impression, though – we will continue doing our pricing checks and quality comparisons annually to ensure we are aligned.
I am sorry to hear that you found the space to be smaller than what you were expecting. The photos on our portfolio were taken by a real estate photographer, and we do our best to represent the accommodation exactly per what is available to ensure our guests are happy.
It is very regrettable that you were disappointed by the location of our Flat – generally, guests will choose Sunset Bay for our proximity to Harbour Island’s restaurants and pubs, plus the nearby beaches, etc. I have checked the description on our listing, and I am satisfied that we have described the location accurately.
Lastly, I am very surprised and saddened by your rating of 3/5 for cleanliness. This is an aspect that we pride ourselves on, and it’s very important to me that I do the final check of the flat myself prior to each check-in. I work through a check list that includes checking each item in the kitchen (crockery, cutlery, glasses, mugs, pots, pans, inside the oven and microwave), checking all areas of the bathroom including toilet bowl, basin, inside and on top of vanity, the shower, and also doing a final dust of all surfaces throughout the flat, ironing the bedding on the bed to ensure no creases, and a final wipe of all tables and furniture. I wish you had mentioned this to me when I checked in during your stay so that any areas you identified as lacking could be rectified by our cleaner right away.
Had I not received your detailed feedback via WhatsApp that mentioned the many aspects of the accommodation that you enjoyed and appreciated, I would have been worried after reading your review that you weren’t happy with your stay, but your message said otherwise, and I appreciated your words of praise shared on your departure day. I wish you had mentioned at the time that you felt our accommodation was overpriced, as it would have helped me better understand if we had the opportunity to discuss your feedback and what you were comparing to.
