Talbot Trout Farm is a nature and wildlife retreat located between the rolling hills of the South African Highveld. Nestled in the Mpumalanga Highlands the property is situated in the “Trout Triangle” between Dullstroom and Machadodorp and covers a variety of ecosystems
The self-catering accommodation is offered in 4 cottages, namely Protea and Agapanthus, Kiepersol and Rose Cottage. The Protea Cottage overlooks a dam stocked with rainbow and brown trout and can accommodate up to 4 adults and 2 children and comprises 2 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The bedrooms comprise queen-size beds and the en-suite bathrooms are fitted with showers, basins and toilets. The unit also has an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is equipped with a gas fridge and gas stove. The patio contains a weber braai facility.
The Agapanthus Cottage can accommodate up to 4 guests and contains 2 bedrooms and 2 en-suite bathrooms. Each bedroom consists of a queen-sized bed and both en-suite bathrooms are fitted with a shower, basin and toilet. The unit includes a kitchen equipped with a gas fridge and gas stove, a lounge and a fireplace. The cottage has a patio with outdoor dining and braai facilities.
Kiepersol Cottage consists of 4 spacious bedrooms, each opening onto the lovely patio and garden. Three bathrooms (one with bathtub), large living/dining area with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen with gas stove and full size electrical fridge/freezer. Stoep with breathtaking views of trout dams and rolling hills has a weber braai, gas braai and wood fire braai.
The Rose Cottage has 5 bedrooms and 2 family size bathrooms each with bath and shower. Large kitchen equipped with everything needed to feed a group with ease, covered stoep with gas and weber braai, dining and lounge area and outside boma to enjoy star lit evenings around a bonfire. The spacious lounge / dining area inside also has a dining table, seating area in front of a beautiful fireplace and a bar area.
Talbot Trout Farm boasts nine trout dams, which are stocked regularly, and is home to a wide variety of fauna and flora, making it an ideal location for birders and nature lovers. Farm animals and free-roaming game such as zebra, ostriches, blesbok, springbuck, black wildebeest and reebok can be seen grazing on the hills surrounding the cottages.
Cottages are supplied with mineral water from the farm's springs and the cottages are powered by solar panels.
