Description
Tula Retreat offers a unique, secluded experience on the water's edge of the Calitzdorp Dam in the Western Cape. Ideal for couples, families, or friends seeking a tranquil getaway, the retreat can accommodate a maximum of 4 guests. Pre-packed meals can be collected in Calitzdorp town before arrival, ensuring a convenient and stress-free stay.
The Jala Tent accommodates 2 guests and is furnished with a king-size extra-long bed. The en-suite bathroom is fitted with a bath and washbasin and opens onto a patio with breathtaking views. An additional outdoor shower is provided. The unit, including the patio, spans approximately 80 m² and is equipped with biodegradable toiletries. The open-plan living area features a dining space with a fireplace, a comfortable couch, and a kitchenette for preparing tea and coffee. Guests can unwind in the wood-fired hot tub while enjoying the serene surroundings. LED lighting is available inside, as the unit is off-grid.
The private safari-style bush kitchen, located approximately 200 m from the Jala Tent, is fully equipped with a gas stove, oven, gas fridge, and fire pit. The Vayu Caravan, furnished with a double bed, can accommodate an additional 2 guests at an extra cost. Daily wood and firelighters are provided, with additional wood available for purchase. Wi-Fi and solar power points are available in the outdoor kitchen area. Guests are advised to bring sufficient food and snacks, as there are no nearby shops.
Activities at the retreat include hiking, birdwatching, fishing, and swimming in the dam. A two-seater canoe and double-seater kayak are available free of charge, with guided kayak tours bookable on arrival. Boats and jet skis are permitted on the dam, and guests are welcome to bring bicycles to explore the scenic Groenfontein Valley Circle Route. Access to the retreat is by boat only, with secure vehicle parking behind a gate. Staff live on-site and are available from 08:00 to 17:00 for assistance in case of emergencies. Please note that the retreat is not suitable for children under 12, and pets are not permitted due to roaming game.
