Description

A Mountain View Country Estate is situated on Fochville Road, 9 km outside of Parys. The estate is surrounded by picturesque mountainous land, which is the result of a meteorite the size of Table Mountain that collided with Earth some 2020 million years ago, creating this wonder of nature, the Vredefort Dome.

The self-catering guesthouse offers accommodation in 9 beautifully furnished rooms. The rooms are next to each other under the same roof. The rooms are not individual, free-standing units. The rooms are open plan with an en-suite shower, toilet, and basin, and can accommodate wheelchairs. The first 5 rooms are furnished with double beds while the other 4 rooms contain twin beds. Each room can accommodate up to 2 guests. Extra guests, normally children, will be accommodated on a separate mattress.

There are 4 separate guest toilets and 1 separate bathroom for small children only, and 4 kitchens. Please note that a kitchen will be allocated to each group booked. If a kitchen is not available, a coffee station kitchenette will be allocated. Kindly enquire regarding availability. Pots, pans, utensils, breadboards, bottle openers, a microwave, fridge, kettle, 2-plate stove, cutlery, crockery, and glasses are provided in the 3 smaller kitchens. In the big kitchen, you will find all the above plus a huge 8-plate, 2-oven stove. There are 2 separate, communal dining rooms and 2 separate, communal lounges.

Please note the self-catering guest house is 9 km away from the nearest town, Parys. This is fly-fishing territory, with the mighty Vaal coursing through the 54-hectare establishment. The region is rich in bird- and insect life, so bring your binoculars as one is bound to see and hear a fish eagle. Enjoy the beauty of nature in a farming environment.

Country estate was a new experience for me. It was OK, the host was very helpful and friendly. The area is very cold in winter; I can advise that he invest in electric blankets. At least the bed must be warm.

Thank you for your review. Yes, the area can be cold during the winter, but you have a wall heater, a duck duvet inner, and 4 warm blankets at your disposal. I think electric blankets are okay, but for guests, it can be risky. We try to make the room as safe as possible for the guests.

Sufficient practical facilities and beautiful surroundings. We had a truly pleasant experience, just what we needed for our stopover to our next destination. Has everything you need and also a nice and friendly host.
