Description

Situated between the Kruger National Park and Johannesburg, Acra-Retreat Mountain View Lodge is located on the edge of a cliff. This 11-hectare property is in the Elands Krans Nature Reserve.

There is an abundance of bird life, including owls, swallows, Loeries, guinea fowl just to name a few. One can watch the monkeys on the adjacent cliffs, sunning themselves or playing on the rocks.

The rooms are luxurious and welcoming. Each room has a view and its own entrance on to the outside deck or garden, where you can enjoy the magnificent panorama. Safe parking is guaranteed. Clean water is derived from the borehole tapping into a mountain stream which is 50m deep. The water is tested regularly to ensure its safe to consume.

Acra-Retreat has its own fully licensed pub. Sundowners can also be enjoyed on the deck whilst watching the magnificent display of colours on the mountains as the sun slowly sets. Dinner is served daily. There is also a swimming pool with a kiddies pool and a sheltered braai area for guests to make use of.

The hosts speak German, Dutch, English and Afrikaans.

Emphasis is laid upon peace and tranquility.

Acra Retreat also helps to arrange trips to the famous Stone Circles and Adam's Calendar. The Panorama Route, Blyde River Canyon and Bourke's Luck Potholes. It is also a perfect stopover for international tourists, being only a 2-hour drive away from Johannesburg, and halfway to the Kruger National Park.

Activities that can be arranged include zip-lining, bow shooting, blow dart shooting, paintball, horse riding, abseiling, mountain biking, mountain climbing, hiking for beginners and experienced hikers, trout or bass fishing, stone circle excursions and visits to Paul Kruger's house.
