De communicatie vooraf was vlot en vriendelijk, en bij aankomst voelden we ons meteen welkom! Het bed was heerlijk comfortabel en fris opgemaakt. We verbleven hier vier weken en hebben het fijn gehad. Voor een kort verblijf is deze accommodatie ideaal, en bij een langer verblijf zouden een paar extra praktische voorzieningen, zoals een waslijn en knijpers, handig zijn. Het tapijt in de slaapkamer is niet helemaal ons ding (vies en kan het zelf niet schoonmaken) en ’s ochtends vroeg (rond 05:30) komt er veel licht binnen. Verduisterende gordijnen zouden hier zeker een pluspunt zijn, vooral vanwege het raampje boven de voordeur. De badkamer heeft een opstap van ongeveer 25 cm, met een handgreep die handig is om je te ondersteunen. Er is een tv met veel kanalen, al hebben wij die zelf niet gebruikt. De keuken is prima uitgerust voor het klaarmaken van eenvoudige maaltijden. Buiten staat een stenen bankje met uitzicht op de voortuin en straat — fijne plek om 10 minuten te zitten en te genieten van de omgeving. De eerste dagen moesten we even wennen aan het geluid van de steenfabriek, maar gelukkig sloot die voor de kerstvakantie. Vredenburg is een fantastische uitvalsbasis buiten Kaapstad! Kaapstad is vlot bereikbaar voor een daguitstap. Vanuit hier bereik je makkelijk de prachtige kust en hotspots zoals Paternoster, Tietiesbaai, Jacobsbaai en Hopefield, maar ook leuke stops zoals Plaasmol Padstal, Afsaal Padstal, Juffrouwshoogte en het Fossil Park. De wifi werkte uitstekend, ideaal om contact te houden met thuis.
Communication beforehand was smooth and super friendly, and we felt welcome right away! The bed was wonderfully comfortable and freshly made. We stayed here for four weeks and had an absolutely lovely time. This accommodation is perfect for a short stay, and for a longer stay, a few additional practical amenities, like a clothesline, would make things even easier. There is carpet in the bedroom, which isn’t entirely our thing, and in the early morning (around 5:30 am) quite a lot of light comes in. Blackout curtains would definitely be a bonus, especially because of the small window above the front door. The bathroom has a step of about 25 cm, with a handy handrail for support. There is a TV with many channels, though we didn’t use it ourselves. The kitchen is fine for preparing simple meals. Outside, there’s a cozy stone bench with a view of the front garden and street — a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the surroundings. During the first few days, we had to get used to the noise from the nearby stone factory, but fortunately it closed for the Christmas holidays. Vredenburg is a fantastic base outside Cape Town! From here, you can easily reach the beautiful coastline and highlights such as Paternoster, Tietiesbaai, Jacobsbaai and Hopefield, as well as fun stops like Plaasmol Padstal, Afsaal Padstal, Juffrouwshoogte and the Fossil Park. The WiFi worked perfectly, making it easy to stay in touch with home.
