Memorable. Our stay at Bakubung Bush Lodge was absolutely lovely. The hotel room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the game drives. All staff members were pleasant and helpful.

Lovely stay, attention to detail was lacking. I booked a twin room and was given a standard room - so my son had to sleep on the couch. Not great. I booked on full board and had to pay for our lunch. I made mention that it was my son's birthday and they put the wrong name on the letter to congratulate him (they later put in a fresh letter). I also asked them to arrange a slice of cake for his birthday dinner. They knew nothing about my request and took about 30 minutes to get a slice of cake together for us so I could sing to him. Not ideal, but we got to sing eventually. So it was well run and maintained. The game drives were great and the guides lovely.

Average stay for above average price. Average meals, overpriced drinks (500ml water R30, 1 litre R60, small tin cooldrink R45). Definitely cater for tourists, not SA friendly budget. Local is not cheaper in this case.

Average. The service at reception was very average. When we enquired about the kids' club, the ladies were unprofessional and gave us half answers, mentioning that there are no other kids at the kids' club today, insinuating we shouldn't book ours. The à la carte menu was like bar food; the patties tasted like they were out of a box. The menu needs a proper upgrade. Our TV didn't work a few times. The hot water for the bath was incorrectly labelled. Our rooms were cleaned late every day. I rarely complain, but when we are paying a chunk of money to visit the bush and relax, we expected more.

For what we paid for, we could have gotten a better place. The service was bad from the receptionist, bad attitude and we had to ask what our booking included. We stayed for long with the receptionist alleging that we had not paid. She didn't want to arrange a shuttle for us to attend the Sun City Kenny G event. She was not friendly at all. The dinner staff sounded like disgruntled employees. We could hear all their disgruntlement when serving. Birds were on top of our chalet and left grass on the bed and in the room - they are aware of this, they could be refreshing the rooms before we sleep.
