Very basic. We stayed at Big Bay Beach Club G6 in December and unfortunately found the accommodation to be very basic for the price point. The unit requires a R4 deposit, which felt difficult to justify as there was very little of value or risk inside the apartment. A number of basic amenities were missing: soap was provided but there was no soap dish, there was no handwash in the bathroom, and no bins in either the bathroom or the bedroom. The main bedroom has no window and no air conditioning, which made it extremely uncomfortable, particularly in summer. When this was raised, the check-in host was not aware that the bedroom had no window. Fresh air should not be considered a luxury, and guests should be clearly informed of this in advance. The suggested solution was to sleep with the sliding door open, which is neither practical nor safe. Guest safety cannot be guaranteed in this way. When we later mentioned suggested improvements to the unit, the response compared our stay to camping. This is not an appropriate comparison when paying R4 per night, and it reinforced the sense that the accommodation standards do not align with the price charged. While we were warned about wind and dust, it was evident that the couches had not been moved for a thorough clean in some time. There are several relatively small improvements that would make a meaningful difference: investing in proper bath sheets, adding carpets next to the beds, and ensuring basic bathroom and bedroom amenities are in place. Lastly, while security at the complex is a positive, the unit is located right next to the security gate, and the security guards were consistently very noisy. This should be addressed, as it directly affects guest comfort and sleep. Overall, the location is good, but the unit requires better maintenance, clearer communication, and a more realistic approach to guest expectations to justify both the nightly rate and the deposit.
