We had a truly wonderful stay at Birkhall Estate. It is beautiful and peaceful. We had a truly wonderful stay at Birkhall Estate. The location is ideally close to several fantastic attractions, yet peaceful and tranquil. During our stay, we visited Oribi Gorge, where my son bravely did the Wild Swing at Wild 5 Adventures, and we also enjoyed ziplining at Lake Eland Game Reserve. The estate is also conveniently close to beautiful beaches, and after a busy day out, it was wonderful to return to the calm and quiet of the farm. Birkhall Estate itself is a stunning farm setting—perfect for rest and relaxation. We spent a lot of time walking and unwinding, while the children happily rode their bicycles and did their running workouts in the fresh country air. The swimming pool was a welcome highlight, especially on warm, humid days. One of the most impressive aspects of our stay was the incredible variety of birdlife on the farm. My son, who is an enthusiastic birdwatcher, was absolutely thrilled and managed to tick off 12 lifers during our visit. The farm staff were exceptionally friendly and always willing to help, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. The host was equally impressive—whenever we had a question, her responses were quick, helpful, and reassuring. Security on the estate was very good, with a fully electric fence providing peace of mind throughout our stay. Coming from Gauteng, we were initially concerned about the lack of burglar bars on the windows, but we soon realised that they are simply not needed in such a safe and secure environment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will most definitely be returning to this beautiful and peaceful gem.

Rustige wegbreek met asemrowende uitsigte. Hierdie was vir seker nie ons laaste keer nie. Die uitsig van rondom die huis is asemrowend mooi. Die huis het alles wat mens nodig het en meer. Skoon, netjies en goed ingerig. Die diens was uitstekend. Dis vir seker die moeite werd om die plaas pad te stap, die stappie is uitdagend, maar die uitsig is pragtig.

Memorable. The stay was amazing. The unplanned Eskom power shortage would have been easier if the generator had been present. The views and home were memorable, and I loved every bit of the place.

Nice accommodation in a spectacular setting! Great accommodation in a beautiful location. Spectacular views of the river and the gorge. Nice garden with an exceptionally diverse bird population. Well-equipped kitchen with espresso machine and dishwasher. For the last 5 km drive to the house, a car with high clearance is recommended (at least Toyota Urban Cruiser or similar).
