Buccara Karoo – Graaff-Reinet is a unique retreat in the heart of the Karoo, South Africa, offering guests the opportunity to discover the region’s hidden gems while enjoying an authentic wilderness experience. Surrounded by vast open landscapes, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking natural beauty, the property provides the perfect setting for relaxation, adventure, and reconnecting with nature. Guests can enjoy peaceful surroundings, spectacular star-filled skies, and the timeless charm of the Karoo.

Accommodation is available across a variety of units to suit different travel needs.

Clifton Manor House & Clifton Main House
These properties can be booked either per room or for exclusive use. When booking per room, guests enjoy a private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, while communal areas—including the kitchen, braai facilities, lounge, and swimming pool—are shared with other guests staying in the same house. Please note that our friendly Buccara cats and dogs roam the property freely. They are sociable with both guests and other pets, contributing to the relaxed, farm-style atmosphere.

Willowslopes Cottage
Each cottage features a private kitchenette and braai area, while communal facilities—including the swimming pool, dining area, bar, and shared kitchen—are available to all guests. Please note that Willowslopes Lodge is located deeper within the reserve and requires a high-clearance vehicle for access.

Willowslopes Main House
This property offers mostly private facilities within the house, with only the swimming pool and bar area shared with other guests. As with the cottages, access requires a high-clearance vehicle.

Road Access to the Accommodation
From the R61 tar road turn-off, there is a well-maintained 9 km dirt road leading to Clifton Manor House and Clifton Main House. A medium-clearance vehicle is required for this section of the journey.

For guests staying at Willowslopes, the route follows the same 9 km dirt road from the R61 turn-off, followed by an additional 8.5 km through riverine terrain. A high-clearance vehicle is essential to reach this accommodation.

Important Information
Please note that there are no restaurants, shops, or food outlets located on the property. Guests are encouraged to bring their own groceries and supplies for the duration of their stay. For those wishing to enjoy catered meals, private chef services can be arranged with a minimum of 4 days' notice prior to arrival and are subject to availability. Advance booking is essential, and meal requests made within 4 days of arrival may unfortunately not be accommodated.
