A very well equipped accommodation with everything we needed to have a wonderful stay. Incredible view! Interesting visits from the zebras and the duikers; the very naughty monkeys teaching the babies how to climb through the window, and the troop of baboons rushing through the property and jumping on the roof! Very relaxing stay.

Be wary of the owner, make sure you make notes of all faults and report. We had a wonderful stay at Misty Peaks, beautiful and tranquil surroundings. Very safe and secure. Just disappointed with a message from the owner the next morning after we left showing me mould in the bathroom roof edges and accusing us of being the cause of the mould build-up in the bathroom after literally 2 days. We checked in on Friday the 10th of July at 2pm and checked out on Sunday the 12th of July at 10am. He then went on a voice note and said that we probably ran the bath super hot and closed the bathroom doors and that's why it happened, which was an extremely weird comment to make as bathrooms are meant to be used for a shower or bath with hot water and closed doors. It was extremely disappointing to receive that video and voice note from the owner. Mould does not build up overnight and for him to be blaming guests for something like that a day after we left is so strange. We often go away on short breaks throughout South Africa and this is the first time that I have ever been treated this way before. This experience has ruined what was otherwise a beautiful weekend away in the stunning Drakensberg.

It's very unfortunate Michelle took exception to me asking about the bathroom. It was quite obvious that excessive steam had caused a problem which was not there prior to their arrival. The fact that on the very first night I was told there was no more hot water as the 200 lt geyser had run dry also points in the same direction. Obviously one would close the door when using the bathroom but surely open the windows perhaps?. Anyway my customer service is beyond reproach and Michelle fails to mention that I allowed her to bring an additional person free of charge and wonder if she was even going to ask me. Lastly our property is maintained at a high standard as she would have seen on her arrival and I have every right to ask when we notice a problem which was made even more stressful as we had more guests arriving after her departure. A simple apology and acknowledgement would have gone a long way...

Will be returning. The accommodation had everything you could possibly need, and obviously, the views are magnificent. The Falcon Ridge excursion was well worth it.

From our first communication with Kevin to our last conversation the morning before we left Misty Peaks, I can confirm that Kevin is one of the most pleasant hosts we have ever encountered. Kevin's hospitality is certainly symbolic of the incredible experience we had at Misty Peaks. The accommodation is not only immaculately clean, but also very well equipped. The space, inside and out, contributes to the feeling that you are alone in the mountains. We were fortunate enough to experience the fog, and the early morning silhouette of Zebras, Wildebeest and Blesbok on the property made it a hundred times more special. A fantastic base from which to explore the area. Very comfortable and cozy. Misty Peaks Cloudlands is a very cozy home in a beautiful area of the Drakensberg. The house comfortably accommodated our family, and we enjoyed our evenings in front of the fire to ward off the winter chill. The house is well equipped and an arrangement can be made to have a housekeeper come in daily. The views of Cathkin Peak are breathtaking, and there are various hikes directly accessible from the house. Would definitely recommend Misty Peaks as a destination.
