Basic and rustic. We stayed at this house with our young toddlers and found it very basic and rustic, which actually worked well for a family with small children. We spent most of our time outdoors on the patio/deck overlooking the garden. The outdoor space is spacious and well set up, with plenty of seating, a pool table, and a braai. A generous supply of wood was provided, which was appreciated. The kids especially enjoyed playing freely in the garden. If you’re unfamiliar with the area, it’s important to note that the house is not within walking distance of the beach; you will need to drive. Unfortunately, there were a few issues that impacted our stay. One of the bedrooms had a strong pet urine smell and was not usable. We were only four people, so we didn’t need the third bedroom, but this would have been a major concern if we had required it. Additionally, the fridge was broken. The temperature sat between 15–19°C, which meant food could not be kept fresh and we had to throw away a lot of unused groceries. The owner was aware of this issue, and while a small bar fridge was provided as an alternative, it was not a suitable solution for a full household. Overall, the outdoor area and child-friendly nature of the property were highlights, but the issues with the bedroom and fridge were disappointing and should be addressed!
